Four years after the split of All Saints the chief songwriter returns with her debut effort. "Open" promises a more personal side to Lewis, but does it succeed?
Kicking off with a mediocre and un-needed "Intro" the album blasts its way into "Dance", a 50's funk number that wouldn't sound out of place in "Grease".
Debut solo single "Never Felt Like This Before" offers a slice of summery pop, while "You" attracts with its simple but beautifully written lyrics.
"Butterflies" , "Nasty Boy" and "Heart Made Me A Fool" are all funky up-beat numbers and sound a little similar to "One More Tequila" from the "Saints & Sinners" LP. "Radio" sounds like something that was left off from the Sugababes last album, but could well be a successful single.
"Open" shows a natural progression for Shaznay Lewis, and offers material that will appeal to All Saints fans. To gain a wider and long-lasting success though, Lewis might want to try a little harder.
