With so many football-based singles out this week, all we need to stop the madness is a track so huge and so instantly catchy that it has to have nothing to do with the World Cup. Please stand up Wales' hottest new group The Automatic, who, having already had a Top 40 hit earlier this year, have written possibly the best rock'n'roll anthem of the summer. Indeed, it may not make any sense, but this fiery, uptempo tune has been a favourite on The Box and Radio 1, and it may earn the lads their first Top 10 hit. I must say, it really is a monster!

A monster. Normally something huge that springs out on you without any warning. That sums up this record really. However, this one's an incredibly fun monster. On the less serious side of current indie music, "Monster" should see The Automatic become major stars. Deservedly so as well, for a band who at the start of the year were total unknowns.
