Singles released w/c 9th January 2006
Richard Ashcroft - Break The Night With Colour
Richard Ashcroft's forthcoming new album, "Keys To The World", brings an end to his two year hiatus. With this first single, "Break The Night With Colour", he means to continue what he started with his solo career. The song is a powerful, dark, emotional ballad, rather similar "Check The Meaning". However, it's not quite up to the standard of Richard's greatest effort, "A Song For The Lovers", but nevertheless should do well in the charts.

The Crimea - Lottery Winners On Acid
Following the success of original and exciting bands like Guillemots, Arcade Fire, and many more in 2005, it looks as if this trend will continue through 2006. To keep the ball rolling, we've got this lot - The Crimea. "Lottery Winners On Acid" is a quirky piece of piano-led indie/pop with a merry feel, and generally just makes you smile. It won't be a big hit, but it will make a few people's day.

The Kooks - You Don't Love Me
Back after the success of "Sofa Song", The Kooks release what should be their breakthrough into the Top 20. "You Don't Love Me" is yet another slice of guitar pop, and it's good guitar pop. Lead singer Luke's vocals are still sublime, and its beat is springy and youthful. It's not really a big progression from their earlier singles, but it goes to show that the Brighton four-piece are a force not to be avoided. Arctic Monkeys, beware!
(Dave Kirkham)
Mark Owen - Hail Mary
Try not to sound like a fan. Hmmmm...... Skip "Hail Mary" and listen to the B side "The Greatest Love Song". Oh no it'll be all slushy and Mark doing a "Babe" when he was in Take That I hear you cry. Oh yeah he's back in Take That. Well yeah but he still has a solo career to nurture and enjoy. Play the B side. It's one of the coolest songs ever. Shame it'll be hidden away and not played much. Why does Mark's talent forever seem to be music's B side? Cos nobody knows what they got till it's gone.

Texas - Sleep
For the third single from "Red Book", Sharleen and the gang team up with an unknown, Paul MacDonald, to release this soaring mid-tempo beauty. It's one of their best singles to date, and comes complete with a hilarious video with Peter Kay in a wig and fake nose. Should propel them back into the Top 10 without any problems methinks.

Trinity - Like The Sun
Turbulence Records releases another amazing single with a little help from Andre Pascal on the radio edit. This is one of the most powerful, energetic vocal tracks I've heard in quite some time. The lyrics are touching and romantic, while still having that club edge. Ever since the release of this track, I listen to this track almost every day and never tire of it. How's about the other mixes you ask? They're all very nice remixes, however, the Paradise Remix and Radio Edit are the best to me.
