  • Wow, first YT, then Spotify.
It really seems nobody cares about her nowadays, when in reality her numbers are quite good

Yeah, 'Madonna's doing bad on streaming services' is just another myth that haters are trying to sell online, like they tried with 'Madonna was flop in 90s' myth.

Could be because of the duration of the songs. The Celebration version of Frozen is 6:19 while the Ray of Light album version is 6:07. It's only a small difference but I've noticed versions of the same track with different durations usually have different play counts. This is evident when you compare album versions to The Immaculate Collection versions to Celebration versions. This is annoying because it appears that Madonna's steams are far less, when in reality many have been split in thirds.
I don't think it's length of a song. Like a Prayer on album and Celebration is exact same version of a song. They probably screwed up tags.
It's not about tags. They screwed up remastering on Celebration and with that audio fingerprint on some tracks - a technology music services rely on to identify music properly.

Do you think it has a chance for a Gold album certification with the RIAA?

                        • Wow 3 years already! Time goes by fast.

I do think that the album will eventually hit Gold, maybe they will certify it next year when she launches the new album or maybe late this year with the hype of her 60th bday.

RH did ‘good’ in streaming for her, 163M at Spotify plus Apple Music and Tidal.

                          We will see.

                          Edit:

According to Billboard, RH has sold 238k until December 2016. Maybe it’s around 250-260k now.

March 9, 2018 by Paul Sinclair

Two limited edition coloured vinyl pressings of Madonna albums – originally created as exclusives for UK retailer Sainsbury’s – are available to order online via Amazon, and other retailers.

The blue vinyl edition of 1998’s brilliant Ray Of Light is available (it’s a double, but not in a gatefold sleeve), alongside a clear vinyl pressing of Madonna’s second album, the iconic Like A Virgin.

It’s not known how or why Amazon have these and how much stock might be available, but they are well priced and of course makes them available to those outside the UK (and those inside the UK, for that matter, who can’t be bothered traipsing around various branches of Sainsbury’s in the hope of finding them).

                                  • Material Girl and Like A Virgin combine for over 120 million streams on Spotify, proving their strength, a strength translated into album sales of The Immaculate Collection. Totals of the Like A Virgin album are stunning: 21 million pure album sales, over 11 million physical singles, over 14 million sales of compilations created and over 3 million digital units, in other words this represents nearly 40 million equivalent album sales overall!

Numbers speak by themselves, True Blue album sold 22,55 million units, its singles over 12 million. On top of that, they are near 3 million digital sales. They are also responsible for nearly 10 million sales of compilations of every kind. Its total of 36 million plus equivalent album sales generated is second only among female albums up to that date, second only to her own album Like A Virgin

                                    1989 – Madonna – Like A Prayer

Owning the signature song of the most successful female singer of all-time should help. Like A Prayer is precisely that – the biggest career hit coming out as the lead single from the new album of the biggest star around. Logically, the album sold huge amounts in no time. Both the album and the single spent multiple weeks at the top in most markets.

Such a splash is hard to sustain. Following singles failed to maintain the interest as high as it started. The job was already done though with the album shifting 14 million units plus 11 million equivalent album sales through various formats for a total in excess of 25 million. It is the 7th year in a row that 20 million units or more are needed to lead the annual ranking, the definitive illustration of the new heights reached by female artists.

                                    1998 – Madonna – Ray Of Light
Almost one decade after Like A Prayer, Madonna is back! Of course, she never really left. Turning 40, the Queen of Pop stood on 4 consecutive albums which had mixed results when she dropped her album Ray Of Light. The lead single Frozen was a huge hit, perfectly paving the way for the album. Singles Ray Of Light, The Power of Goodbye and Nothing Really Matters kept the LP afloat for 18 months.

It moved 16 million units in the process while its singles and subsequent releases exploiting its tracks increased this figure to 21,1 million. It’s her fourth album to top an annual listing after Like A Virgin, True Blue and Like A Prayer
