Oh so Madonna has zero coming from that because none of her older videos were uploaded on vevo

Numbers are still fishy do, that's 66m overall, US numbers are less than that, added to that Spotify as the biggest service, and then smaller markets like apple, amazon and tidal it's still not possible to me that it's close to 400m.

Maybe nympho can explain it better.

No. Of course Madonna has video streams counted.

YouTube videos are counted as well. They don't need to be uploaded on VEVO (in fact I read yesterday that Vevo is closing, nobody uses it).
Several of her videos not uploaded to her Youtube channel were uploaded in Warner Music YouTube channel.
Only a few of her videos were missing from Youtube. (As I'm almost completely sure that user generated videos are not counted)

You're both making the thread really messy with these Janet comparisons… So I'm going to ask you to please stop it.

Ofc I talked about Vevo videos on youtube, not about vevo.com that was never even a thing.

      • Thanks to everyone sharing these figures!

Sorry to ask here, but if you have any for Jennifer Lopez could you please post them in her thread? I'd love to see the totals for Love?, Dance Again... The Hits and A.K.A especially!

          I know. Me too.
Vevo channels have disappeared from YouTube now, though. All artists have their different channels merged into one with their name, as VEVO is closing.

Anyway, as I said, it doesn't matter if her videos were uploaded to VEVO channel or to her regular Madonna YouTube channel, or to Warner Music YouTube channel. They're all official channels which views are counted for Soundscan and for RIAA purposes.

Regarding the user generated videos, I just checked RIAA website:
"Only official label/company videos count towards certification, User Generated Videos do not".

You're ignoring the fact that he doesn't make mistakes by millions, why are so hung up on discrediting his numbers? His work on Janet was totally on point.

He’s faker than fake snow, rude, doesn’t like people to contradict him and he’s just a normal person with his own sales estimates.

His estimates are based on facts, known sales, year end charts, decade end charts, certifications, chart runs, market changes, press releases etc. If you can do a better job let's see you doing it. You sound like you've been hurt by low sales of your fave whoever it is that MJD analyzed. If you wanna believe in fake numbers that you read on stan forums go do it, if you wanna talk about real sales MJD is the best guy for that.

Someone quote me if i'm wrong, but ddn't Billboard once used his numbers few years ago?

What are you basing your opinion that he is off by millions? LOL

Being off sometime s by 100k-500k is nothing, labels probably couldn't give precise information either.

                                • I already explained my stance on Janet's sales and sales in general. I'm not here for inflated numbers. Chart success isn’t a measure of greatness and never will be, but taking his estimates as if he's an official source that can't be subjective, biased or simply make a mistake, is beyond my understanding. He's just one of us.

But let's back to Madonna. We're offtopic now.

For someone who 'doesn't care about sales and charts'you're arguing about them a lot. And no one is saying he is the official source, but he is the best, closets and the most objective source, and his numbers are based only on facts.
