The Brazilian page of Warner Music Legends (verified account on Facebook so I think it is reliable) says that Hung Up Remix is coming next Friday, September 16th.

So they did promo-CD singles in several countries and sent them to radios that even start playing it and it even charted in some countries airplay charts. Madonna wasn't on board, she wanted "Bedtime Story" to be 3rd single so she went to Brit Awards, she did a $5 million video, she showed it on cinemas, she then did the MTV Special to promote the video... and with all this going on (remember she was the head of Maverick so she had much more to say on what to do and where to spend the money) Warner was forced to cancel the single release (as Madonna refused to film a video for the song).
If you tell me I get them, this song had potential to become a big airplay (and sales hit) and also a dance club hit (with remixes) if promoted right. Yet, artisticly speaking was much weaker and Madonna was chasing the art world and the critics to respect her a little bit more at the time.

Her biggest world tours were the S&S and MDNA when she had 25 and 29 years of career. This is fabulous

The number one is even different with inlfation adjust values, but still Madonna of course!
Now just look at the numbers for these concerts posted before (and the new ones I added).
The TOP 3 is out of this World and It will be very diffcult for someone ever beat that.

Madonna have the entire TOP 5 and most of the TOP 20 (14 concerts there) when numbers are adjusted to inflation (as they should).
Pink is the only other female artist with a concert inside the TOP 20 (besides Madonna and Taylor Swift that are the only ones TOP 10).
Taylor Switf have most of her concerts in US but inside the TOP 40 she manages to have 1 concert in Australia and 2 in Japan.
Madonna have 22 out of TOP 40 concerts. Beyoncé is the only other female artist inside the TOP 40.
Inside the TOP 100 the only aditional artist is Lady Gaga that managed to put 2 of her new Chromatica Ball Tour there (mini tour as are only 24 stadium concerts). Her tour isn't over so there's a chance that in a month she was able to get another concert inside the TOP 100.
About Taylor: Let's not forget that she had big names for the first part of her Reputation Stadium tour that certainly help out a bit (Charli XCX and Camila Cabello in most of them) while Madonna mostly had DJ sets or none opening for her.
Madonna have 43 entries in the TOP 100 (7 TOP 10 / 14 TOP 20 / 22 TOP 40)
Taylor Swift have 41 entries in the TOP 100 (3 TOP 10 / 5 TOP 20 / 12 TOP 40)
Beyoncé have 10 entries in the TOP 100
Pink have 4 entries in the TOP 100
Lady Gaga have 2 entries in the TOP 100
This took me a few more hours to make than I was expecting... hope It's all good (but if you see any concert left out let me know please).

Radio didn't pick the song anywhere and Warner effort to promote the single to the radio was just normal business so... nothing special to help them get an incentivve to play it.
After all the backlash this was doomed to tank in US unless they did something way bigger. Not sure if Warner was on board with all this as they had to take a bigger step if they wanted this to be bigger. Just sending regular promo cd-singles for radio once was not good enough to get this played.
Madonna still went to SNL and sang both "Bad Girl" and "Fever" (that in US was the b-side for Bad Girl commercial single) and that was probably the only reason the single didn't miss the TOP 40 in US.She went there 2 weeks before the single commercial release, and a couple of days before they sent the promo single to the radios. Eventually peaked #44 om airplay on 27/02/93 falling to #46 following week. Not sure about the sales peak but I believe it was in the 30's when it also peaked at Hot 100 (so not a great single seller either).
https://www.billboard.com/charts/rad...gs/1993-02-27/
The week it peaked on Radio was also the week the single was commercial released. "Deeper and Depper" was still at #41 on the airplay charts.
On the Hot 100 when Bad Girl peaked on airplay it was the week it debuted at #75 (and Deeper and Deeper was still at #23 (was at #14 previous week) on the Hot 100 chart.
When Bad Girl peaked #36 on Hot 100 (27/03/93) did it on the sales peak and the song keeping the to #46 on Airplay Chart (6th week on airplay chart). If this song had a little more airplay would certainly also influence a few more single sales and would probably have peaked TOP 20 but to be TOP 10 in US without payola would have been a lot more difficult for "Bad Girl".
Remind you that even though "Bedtime Story" is an alternative song it also had huge promotion (otherwise probaby would even miss the Hot 100) and still only peaked #42. The video premiere at the Theathers and would play before movies for 15 days before premiering on MTV with Madonna Pajama Party promoting the song and the video premiere (remember?). This was the follow up single to "Take a Bow" that was #01 in US for 7 weeks! "Beditme Story" end up peaking at #68 on airplay only as was not at all an US radio friendly song.
Still on this case Warner wanted "Don't Stop" as a single and they even issued promo singles that sent to the radio in some counitres (including US, Spain and Portgual - not sure all the countries that got it played at some radios but I do own that promo cd from Spain/Portgual). They also promoted "Bedtime Story" but I don't believe they put much effort to promote it to the radios at all (at least not as they did with "Secret" and "Take a Bow").
"Rain", the single to follow "Bad Girl /Fever" from Erotica album in US, peaked #11 on Airplay being the main reason that it was a TOP 20 Hit in US (peeaked #14 at the Hot 100).
