You are right! And why the song was #01 in France and a hit in most European countries as the Miami Mix was the one most played on the radio (not the ballad version that was mostly played on AC radios only).

As a mater of fact the A SIDE of the vinyl single in France had the Miami Mix Edit while the Original Song was the B-side:

The US VInyl maxi-single only had the remixes (so to get the original version you had to buy the album as there was only the maxi-single and CD-Maxi-single):

There were many versions of this singles but most of them with focus on the remixes. Only a couple of early releases were about the original version (but those were not the ones that sold better). This was a big club hit too and the remix was not available on the album so people who wanted it got the single.

Yep! Also one of those HUGE hits that stupidly, somehow missed the top. MG along with "Express yourself", "I'll Remember" and "Frozen" TOTALLY deserved to go to number 1.

MG's fate was similar to Cyndi Lauper's "Girls just want to have fun" in that regard.

Hard candy could've done so much better if she would've actually promoted Give It To Me and Miles Away. She did so much promotion for Confessions and then just stopped it all for HC. I guess they thought 4 Minutes would sell the album and put the focus on the tour. Thank you Guy O.

Madonna did perform GI2M and MA live during the promo tour. She didn’t do as much promo as she did for COADF but considering she and Guy were going through a secret divorce, she was pretty good to us.
