I think that, if this happens to Madonna, it must be with a forgotten song that the younger generations gets to discover through the series, as it happened with Running Up That Hill. It will never happen if big hits like La Isla Bonita or Like a Prayer or Like a Virgin are used, because the general public already knows and remembers these songs very well. I agree that Rain could be a contender, maybe Don't Tell Me or Bedtime Story or The Power of Goodbye could do it as well. I think her 90s minor hits have a better chance since nowadays they are more forgotten than her older 80s hits.

I was wondering if Madonna could possibly have her Running Up That Hill moment after the use of one of her songs in a TV show and which song would be the right one to do it.

She will when she passes. It will be 100 times bigger than the RUTH moment.
Hopefully that moment is decades away.

What has happened to Kate Bush is a little bit like "once in a lifetime". It's not that her song is on an episode or two. It is more like her song is the whole season.

Of course something similar may happen to Madonna, as it already happened a little bit with Material Girl, and Rain is indeed one of her underrated songs that may work really well in a great scene on a TV series or movie, but it's really difficult that something that huge happens again for another catalogue artist.

By the way, the series called The Leftovers, which got to be quite big too, tried to use Like a Prayer on a huge scene at the end of the series, but Madonna said no. So they wrote the name "Like a Prayer" on the wheel of a karaoke scene, which is very funny. Here's the full story:

Madonna songs will have a boost if used in a very popular tv series but would they have RUTH kinda boost? I doubt it.

It all depend on how much they use the song and how the song is used on the series.

Kate song was used multiple times in most season episodes and for 2 or 3 times was played almost in full. Also played a role on the series saving one of the series main characters (so was not just another song played).

If a Madonna song is used like that in a series as successful as this one (that broke all netflix streaming records of all time) then it certainly have a chance to become a huge hit on the charts.

There are so many songs that might be used. I can imagine Live to tell would have been a perfect choice for Stranger Things. She just needs right decisions and creative thinking, which I sincerely doubt she/the management will have. I hope I’m wrong.

I love to see a lot of songs getting positive increases, like Take a Bow for example and also the albums like Erotica and BS.

Also it’s interesting how BIM is responsible for like 45% of the streams for RH, and that LFL or GT are not in the top 50 but then more obscure and older singles like Hollywood or I’ll Remember are there? Even GMAYL is there and it feels like it was more hated even by the fans when it was released.

And I always feel like GI2M was a big hit, obviously not on the level of 4M but still big, I hear it more on the clubs or radio than 4M and then the streams are abysmal (34M), there’s a lot of singles that could benefit from some exposure here and there also D&D.
