This rule is for michael, shania and madonna.. and any otheR. Wikipedia is corret... evita sell 11 million WW.
Evita sold around 8 or 9 millions units worldwide at most including the 1CD + 2 CDs versions.
It probably sold 11 million "discs" but that's not what IFPI says as they count units sold worldwide wether they are 1CD or 2 CDs they always count as 1 album unit only. "Evita" streams and catalog sales are low so it looks like the album will take a while to get to 10 million units sold worldwide but will eventually get there..

It sold 2.6 million in US (5xP = 2.5M double disc rule) it wasn't sold another 8 million outside of the US.The whole 11M thing is lazy writing.Probably the album sold 5.5M worldwide at the time and they write 11M units sold because of double disc.Same thing happened with MJ's History which sold 20M and press claimed 40M (double disc and lazy writing again) & Shania Twain's Up which sold 13M and press claimed 20M sold because of double disc thing again

7 millions is very low, because in eua was 5 millions certificade, more 2 milions certificade in europa. Many country not re-certificade albuns.
eua could be 6p and europa could 3p or more...
evita was a huge release, the movie; remixes; magazines; tv; oscar. In brasil madonna was huge, many newspaper and magazines, magazines posters, and single release dont cry for me argentina, radio play much and single is not usual release here. Was very popularity.

A part of ROL video literally went viral multiple times this year on twitter cuz of a coronavirus meme

In the US id say it being featured in Family Guy really helped it from being forgotten. I remember that being like a "meme" when it happened. Now ive seen it used on Instagram in a few gay memes but it hasnt gone viral enough to say its relevant.

Yes, ROL was in movies and series as well. Microsoft did pay $20 million to use the song on their Windows XP commercial in 2002 that was played everywhere but that was a long time ago. I'm sure it did helped the song to sell more digital songs during the 00's as well.

Christmas songs are rising now... let's see how much US streams the song gets.
Will it be enough to get a gold certitication before 2022 ends? Who knows...
