    ^Thanks!

How come ROL had such a "big" update when all other albums lost a lot (I guess that's because last update's was her birthday and she naturally gained a lot for the occasion)?
And why the sudden rise for Frozen? Was it used anywhere?

The world is not so black and white. "Medellin" wouldn't have been a big hit regardless of the number of live performances. Nothing on "Madame X" had real hit potential.
Both things work. Interviews increase more the artist and brand awareness while singing the songs promote the singles.
In Madonna case an interview is enough to sell the albums but she would still need a performance to increase song sales and song streams.
In today market where streams and tracks also count for album charts this could have made wonders for both her songs and her album.
Also performing a song can give much more viral marketing on the internet (that's what happened with her "Living For Live" Brit Awards performance due to her unfortunate fall). Also an artist as big as Madonna performing and giving an interview also generates much more press on traditional media.

Not to drop my resume here but I'm really a marketing specialist.
I've already worked with Warner Music too. I have a business managment degree, a post graduation in marketing managment and master in marketing.

Warner was not perfect and made lots of mistakes but they knew how to marketing an artist like Madonna while Interscoop/Universal seem to be clueless. Plus not sure if many of the last decade choises were also Madonna and not all them. I just think it's great she is back at Warner as they own all her catalog and will invest much more on her brand because of it.

About "Madame X" real hit potential you are right. Only tracks would be "Medellin", "Crave", "I Rise", "I Don't Search I Find" or "Faz Gostoso"..

Madonna was not very concerned in selling the album but more in passing her messages and do a different kind of music. That's why 3 videos were not singles (or ever had any chance).

"Medellin" would have become an hit probably a little bigger in size comparing to "Livin For Love" if promoted on the same kind of level (multiple TV Shows and Award shows performances in US and Europe) but physical singles (in vinyl and cd) needed to exist for that to happen as well as people would buy those mostly on the weeks of promotion. Imagine if Kylie Minogue didn't have singles physical releases in UK from her last album? Probably none would even chart in UK TOP 100.

"Crave" would have been a bigger hit in US if she had performed the song in an Award or TV Show (still did good at clubs and adult comtemporary but even there would have done better).

"I Rise" had a real chance if it had a real video and again some performing promotion (and maybe a remix with some comtemporary hit artist - but she needs to have very careful with that).

"I Don't Search I Find" needed a video and promotion. Would never be huge but could be a TOP 100 hit in many countries.

"Faz Gostoso" would be the bigger hit in latin countries but not so sure how the track would do outside those markets.

Whether we like it or not Madonna is a legacy artist that will only chart huge again with a great new song (good isn't enough), with lots and lots of promotion and collaborating with an artist that is really big in most world markets (none of the artists she collaborated on "Madame X" were very big - I mean Maluma got his 2nd biggest hit in UK with "Medellin" peaking at #87).

Also it was probably a mistake for Madonna not to feature on Dua Lipa remix video for "Levitating" as the song and video were on high rotation on music channels and radios - Madonna on the video would have made a difference on the song performance on the charts no matter what people think. It would be better for her not to be on the song if she was going to be only "half-way". True that the remix production is lame (blame it on Black Madonna or Blessed or whatever she is called now) but Madonna accepted it on first hand (If she accepted to do the song with that production it's kind of weird not to be in the video - she was even in a Snoop Dog video later without being on his song).

Sometimes it's hard to see where artist and marketing choices start and end but she needs to be more careful with that so it doesn't hurt her legacy and her as an artists. I get it she is Madonna and can't be acessible for all albums all the time. She did promo for "Rebel Heart" already and so she/her people probably felt that she should avoid over exposure with her new Era but she really needed it if she wanted to have a bigger hit (not necessary a huge hit) from the album.

International promo really helped too. Visiting France, Germany, Italy, the UK, and promoting several times there…

I wish she promoted Madame X more. Eurovision was not enough (especially with what happened…) I'm still convinced Medellin could have been a cute little hit in some European countries had it been promoted and performed there!
I agree with you! Just doing Eurovision (and singing "Future"? Common!) and Billboard Awards was not close enough to promote the songs and the album.
Even with what happened at Eurovision if "Medellin" had also been performed it would have been different - some european radios got confused - is she moving on to a new single? Some moved from Medellin to Future (and not that many were playing the first single).

If she had performed Medellin at Graham and Jimmy Fallon Tonight Show (instead just doing an interview) would already have done wonders.
In Italy "Medellin" was a TOP 40 (and gold) despite she was not there performing it. If she had gone to Spain to promote it I'm sure the song would have been also a TOP 40 in Spain instead peaked #67 (she was living in Lisbon that is just a 50 minutes flight to Madrid!).

So many promotion mistakes were made on the past decade. "Rebel Heart" should have been way bigger - she got very unlucky with that album being leaked.

So streaming party for Erotica ended... what's next? Are we doing "I'm Breathless" or is it "Like a Prayer"? (I do remember we don't do collections and we skipped "Evita" but "I'm Breathless only have 3 songs from the movie, all others are Madonna original new songs).

Let me know so I stop the 24/7 non-stop streaming of Erotica on my tabblet (that got the phones plugged but only here and there on my hears as I also use my phone too)

Those numbers on that 2020 chart seems to be pure sales only - but even if they are not they are already over 1 year old.
Streaming numbers have been increasing a lot for everybody, but especially for Madonna that finally have a team doing something about her streams since 2018 (hopefully they will start working even better now that she is with Warner again).

In 2017 they published an article about Madonna pure sales ("Into The Groove" was at 878k sales):
    https://www.officialcharts.com/chart...singles__8266/

In 2018, about 3 years ago, they published another one with streaming included (and "Into The Groove" was at 957k sales units)
    https://www.officialcharts.com/chart...-chart__23721/

Also in 2019 they published another one just about Madonna TOP 40 Most Streamed songs in UK:
    https://www.officialcharts.com/chart...d-songs__8646/

All numbers are available for Industry members and "Like A Prayer" besides being by far Madonna most streamed track in UK it also got a new BPI Certification Award earlier this year (as digital certifications are automatic in UK - meaning at least 600k sales equivalent from downloads and streaming alone in UK). As the song was already gold based on physical sales (so at least 400k) that means the song sold over 1 million in UK.

Remember that Official Charts make a lot of mistakes on their articles (unfortunally) especially about sales before 1994 as it was a different company that was tracking sales and making the charts.

I Had no idea that Whitney Houston song was so big in UK! Her passing must have something to do with that song selling so much more or I am wrong?
I did bought the single back in 1987 too as I also got myself "La Isla Bonita" and "Who's That Girl" that year. Surprised to see Belinda Carlisle there (never thought the song have done so well to be TOP 20 Best Selling Single Units (including streaming and digital songs) of the 80's decade in UK.

Those 7 tracks with 1 million singles will certainly take different places soon. Hope Warner relase a 7" vinyl single for Record Day (I know it's always small limited editions of 5k units or so) for "Like a Virgin" and "Holiday" on the 40th anniversary of each single putting them clearly ahead of all the other ones having also 1 million on this list.

Nice to see that the only female artists with more than 1 song there are Madonna and Cindy Lauper but while Cindy have 2 songs Maodnna have 5 songs! Madonna really dominated the 80's like nobody else.

Do you have a TOP 40 for Female 80's? Would love to see that as probably more Madonna songs are there too. (If you don't have can you try to ask the guy for it please).

I really wished "La Isla Bonita" could someday also crack into that TOP 20 as it was the 4th most streamed Madonna song in UK according to Official Charts:
    https://www.officialcharts.com/chart...d-songs__8646/

I believe "Papa Don't Preach" is probably closer to do so. "Crazy For You" should overcome "Chain Reaction" by Diana Ross in a couple of years (again a record day special edition will speed that from happening.

Is there any 90's chart like this also? Is any Madonna song in there? I'm affraid she probably failed to have a TOP 20 song there.
Her best selling 90's single are probably "Vogue" or "Frozen" and they sold a lot less than "Crazy For You" ("Vogue" gets more streams but "Frozen" sold more pure sales - both must be around 650k/750k at best.
