Not sure why bring Elton John to this but he only got his streams after his biopic and his recent collaborations with Dua Lipa and Ed Sheeran.

Because some fans think sales means more popularity while that is you know isn't the only objective way to look at things, I didn't try to downplay Madge she's one of my favourites but Mariah local allegations are completely false and sales doesn't always prove popularity. Hence, I brought up Elton John thing while I know Madonna is more known and famous then Elton despite having huge streaming numbers.

I've lived in Asia for a fair share of my life and you guys have no idea what you are talking about sales aren't everything Mariah is very popular outside US. Should I say Elton John is much more known and famous then Madonna now because of his streaming numbers while Madonna did more sales?

Mariah is not local but she isn't a TOP 5 International Female Artist of All Time in most markets (Europe, South America, Australia or Africa) except US and Asia where she have done extremally well and is even #01 in some markets (like Japan - at least on sales as on Charts Madonna did better having more TOP 10 albums and #01 albums in 3 consecutive decades).

Not sure why bring Elton John to this but he only got his streams after his biopic and his recent collaborations with Dua Lipa and Ed Sheeran.

But he besides started in 1968 and Elton John is the best selling solo artist after Madonna worldwide (and also the 6th among all on Global Charts). He have an impressive longevity (as he already have a 54 years carreer).

Madonna have a biopic coming out soon (let's see if she will outstream him in a couple of years). She is completing 40 years carreer this year.
Mariah have a carreer of 32 years and her longevity is quite impressive. She is globally very well known and call her local it's a huge mistake (but sure she isn't as Globally as successful as Madonna, Rihanna or Britney Spears as her bigger success is more focused in US and Asia despite being spread all over the globe). On Global Chart Mariah Carey is #03 Most Successful Female Artist and that more than prove how she really is Global.

I totally agree with u. To say Mariah is a local act it’s such a biased conclusion , she is indeed global and one of the biggest female seller in history, that is due to her, but on the other hand when u read in her topic her fans claiming she is the best selling act in Brazil giving as a proof an AirPlay chart, that isn’t less biased to me than the ones saying she is local act

They both sold 71 million albums.
Madonna sold more physical singles, MC was more popular in digital and streaming era.
But Madonna still has a better chart performance on hot 100.

Until we have Warner updating Madonna certifications we are not completely sure she isn't ahead.
Madonna was also a bigger club seller than Mariah and with so many older albums that aren't updated for so long it's very probable that Madonna is ahead of Mariah by a few millions.

Since Madonna returned to Warner they are slowly fixing her digital catalog and her streaming.
It's very possible that on digital and streaming Madonna will pass Mariah after they fix everything (hope they do it quicker!)

Madonna has visited the Brazil for 3x (1993, 2008 and 2012). She has sold out 11 shows in stadiums here with 3 world tours. Mariah came to Brazil to perform in tv shows in 1999. Madonna is extremely more popular than her in my country.

You're right and DCFMA actually jumped 18-8 (its peak position for 2 weeks) on the Hot 100 if I'm not wrong.
