I’m satisfied with these numbers. I honestly expected nothing considering the iTunes sales are really really low.
Wow, I'm a hardcore Madonna fan what game? it is tragic. she needed a physical release. we are here to discuss numbers. for her standards, it is low. period.

No, that's the point. WB should know better. but given this is a streaming concert deal, makes sense their focus being on streaming. Now I'm disappointed with the numbers. For her standards, not the best.

        • Im more dissapointed that Frozen has blown up on tiktok/instagram and shes not credited. Madame x was always going to have a hard time even with a physical release.

Yep. And if you shazan the remix they're using, it doesn't show Madonna's name.

I mean she’s not credited but it’s her song and it shows on YouTube and Spotify that the numbers are going up so it is helping in a way, it also happened to Hung Up and BIM, it helps to put her music in the Gen Z mindset.

              • The broadcast had a great effect on her catalogue! It’s nice to see Frozen and Die Another Day getting boosts too. It’s a great moment for her streams.

Blue hydrangea, cold cash divine. Cashmere, cologne and white sunshine.
Red racing cars, sunset and vine. And we were young and pretty.

It is… but more and more people are discovering it so that's great!
It got its biggest Spotify day ever three days ago and its biggest Youtube day in at least 15 months yesterday

                          • The Eurovision performance got over 10k views yesterday, for the first time in 6 months!
The 5 Madame X videos are still getting much more views than they did two weeks ago. Medellin got 13k for example and the Billboard Award performance 8k. The show definitely helped the album and the "Madame X brand." The 22-minute long documentary is getting 2k views a day and the "Welcome to the World of Madame X" short video is getting closer to 2M.

                                  • UK's Top 30 Best Selling Female Albums Of All Time:

                                    3. Madonna. - The Immaculate Collection (1990)
                                    Official Chart peak: Number 1
                                    Sales: 3.77 million
Most-streamed song: Like A Prayer, 44 million streams

Madonna never did anything by the book, the same goes for her first greatest hits collection. Not just a celebration of her legacy (which by 1990 was already enviable) but a re-invention of it, The Immaculate Collection takes all of Madonna's early-career hits (Holiday, Like A Virgin, Papa Can't Preach) and re-packages them for a new decade.

"Top of the shop is Madonna's first greatest hits retrospective The Immaculate Collection, which has shifted 3.77 million, across physical, digital, and streaming equivalent sales. Released in late 1990, The Immaculate Collection featured all Madonna's hits up to that point, along with future Top 10s Justify My Love and Rescue Me and spent nine consecutive weeks at Number 1, her longest stint at the top. It's one of the biggest selling albums of all time."

The above was published on 08 June 19. How can after one year four months the sales still stand at 3.77 million? The album has charted on the top 100 in 2021 for another 12 weeks.

They didn't even care to update the numbers and decided to post the ones they did on the previous article.
Not sure how much more it sold during the past 2 years since album sales are lower than ever but I would say that at least sold 25k to 50k copies more.

                                            • Did they forget about True Blue? Its 2.1 million sales and with streams should be higher correct?

I've noticed with a number of updated OCC articles that the sales figures given are just the same.

'The Immaculate Collection' has sold over 93,000 copies since February 2020 (when the album returned to the top 200 albums chart in place of 'Celebration'). At present the album is selling around 1,000 a week, of which around 90% are chart sales from streams.

"True Blue" was certified 7xPlatinum in 1995 while "Ray of Light" was certified 6xPlatinum in 2003.
That's a lot of time for both albums... they may be both at 8th platinum since the 00's already as "True Blue" even had a remastered version on CD in 2001 and a few limited Vinyl releases along the way (26 years have passed since last certification).

Not sure exactly when Platinums started being automatic in UK but I think it was only after 2009 or later.
This may mean they are wrong (would not be the first time) or that "Ray of Light" really got to 7xPlatinum or even 8xPlatinum before the automatic awards certification was into place meaning that it already sold at least 7xPlatinum and it's on its way to 8x or 09xPlatinum already (a real possibility since COADF era certainly helped "Music" to sell quite a few copies also).

With streaming both albums "True Blue" and "Ray of Light" will eventually get a new award certification from BPI soon and we will know for sure what's going on. Not sure if the label will have to do something so that old physical copies are taken into account... not really sure how do details work. Hopefully Official Charts can raise a light on this next year for Madonna 40th year carreer anniversary as they will certainly make a lot of updated articles if Warner does release something with promo.

                                                    1k a week? It's around 50k a year for a 30 years old album. That's massive! Wow.
