    Sorry - 515,000

Eligible for a Gold single certification with the RIAA!

Give It 2 Me had a digital sales total of 316,000 from 2010. 50,000 less than Sorry, but maybe it eligible for Gold?

Spotify has it 28,954,914. YouTube views are at 84,049,507 views.

    Give It 2 Me - 433,000

    Not eligible.

I just post the Spotify and YouTube numbers for reference.
I assume these are you estimates (last known sales + streaming from Spotify/youtube) since you didn't specify this time that they are coming from your source?

I think it's safe to assume that both songs sold a lot more, her digital singles sales in 2010 were at 11,6m and in 2015 they were at 18,5m. Catalog sales were huge during itunes peak.

I'm sure Sorry could be Gold based on digital sales alone.

I did not ask for digital single sales. I was just thankful to get SPS numbers.

So these are actual SPS figures? Streaming must be very poor for them in US, I'm sure 95% is from sales.

Anyway, that's 2 Gold certifications already missing (Sorry, BIM). Thanks

            • But on the first page of this thread,Nichu94 estimated Give It 2 Me at 420k digital download in USA.

How could it only get 13k sales from streaming? That’s only 1.95 million streams If the ratio is 150:1

              • ^If the 420k figure is actually SPS, he was close.

If not, his estimates were off.

He probably overestimated the song’s catalog sales. It happens. These new SPS figures are straight from Soundscan so there’s no way they’re incorrect.

GI2M was not a hit in US. Although its digital sales were strong at the time thanks to high sales overall, its streaming numbers are poor and 95% are probably from outside US.

It depends on their goal at the time. It would be her second single from "Hard Candy" to be certified so it's possible, Also if the album is getting near to get a new certification in US it would make sense to promote the song to get both single and album the certification. It's different to say an artist have 14 or 15 Platinum or Multi-platinum albums. I assume they want to keep the most Madonna charts and award records ahead of other female artists and sometimes promoting a single like this on a movie or TV series does the trick (besides giving them more money).

Not sure if "Strangers Things" putting "Material Gilr" and "Angel" had something to do with them/Madonna or was just the series writters/producers/directors choise. Either way I'm sure "Materlal Girl" is probably going to get a new certification one of these days as well and it's also helping the "Like a Virgin" album to get a new certification in the future as well. It's Madonna most certified Studio album in US and I'm sure Warner must want it to get more platinum awards so it will remain one of the best selling albums by a female artist (and probably even improve it's ranking one day).

                      • I asked for Holiday. It was Madonna's first Hot 100 hit.

It's digital singles sales in 2010 was 260,000. It has to be over 500,000.

Streaming is at 121,742,780. It does not have an official video on YouTube.

                        It's SPS is 1,120,000!

Eligible for Gold and Platinum with the RIAA!

                          Thank you so much!

The physical single sales pre-so.und,sc.an are excluded from this figure

This 1.12 m figure doesn’t include sou.nd.sc.an physical single sales since 1991, does it ?

Although it doesn’t have an official music video on YouTube, it does have some official audio videos on youtube with decent number.

Let's see how it works on RIAA

Multiple versions of digital tracks can be combined for the purposes of certification under the
                          following guidelines:
 tracks defined as ‘radio mix’ or ‘album version’
                           edited and explicit versions
 remixes, provided they are not more than 90 seconds longer than the original version
‘Live’ recordings of a digital track may not be combined with other versions for the purpose of
certification but may be certified separately.

Only official label/company videos count towards certification, User Generated Videos do not.
Certification count begins at the track’s release date.

Also physical sales can be combined with the digital era sales nowdays,.It sold about 400k physical copies during the 80'S.

                            • The only physical single available for Holiday in the 1990s was the Holiday/Lucky Star 12-inch single. It had sold 8,893 copies as of 11/99.

Soudscan only started in mid 1991 so every single sold before is never included in Soundscan. "Holiday" was released in 1983/1984 so 99% of it's single sales were during the 80's before soundscan trackings meaning soundscan doesn't inlcude the physical single sales.

Aren't those 1.2 million from Soundscan alone? If they are SPS soundscan numbers I would say those others 400k sales from the 80's aren't there. Not that it will change anything anytime soon (it would still need another 400k SPS to get a second platinum award).

Blue hydrangea, cold cash divine. Cashmere, cologne and white sunshine.
Red racing cars, sunset and vine. And we were young and pretty.
