Today 21 years Ago Madonna's "Music" single was released.

True but in 2012 streaming wasn't so big and the song didn't have much staying power. It still sold enough tracks in US to get certified gold.

Also despite doing pretty well in some countries (like Canada, Spain, Italy, Netherlands or Japan where the song was a TOP 3 Hit) the song didn't fair very well in every country (in UK peaked #37 - lower than "Living For Love"). GMAYL even failed to be TOP 40 in some countries like Sweeden where it peaked #60 ("Girl Gone Wild" peaked #37 in Sweeden). In general did better in the charts but failed to have longevity. GGW was a much bigger club hit and benefit from being the MDNA Tour opening track (with an amazing performance). I'm sure that also GGW homo-erotic video helped the song being much more played at gay clubs and pubs (i'm sure her gay audience play this video a lot more).

I agree with this but YouTube was already very VERY big. It's true though that it didn't have any staying power.
I remember waiting for the top 10 to be announced and feel SO relieved. She almost didn't get it!

The milestone I'm waiting for is GMAYL to hit 80 million, I feel like it's been at 79 million forever.

6,5k views per day so it should reach 80M in mid to late September.

Weird facts btw:
- GGW gets 17k views per day, when it was a bigger flop than GMAYL. But it gets viral every once in a while on Twitter so that might be why.
- The three MDNA videos got big increases in 2020 compared to 2019. GGW got 8.6M views last year, while it got only 6M in 2019 for example. It's weird because she actually released an album in 2019 and didn't in 2020, and her other videos from other albums didn't receive such boosts: L4L or Ghosttown didn't for example.
Is MDNA coming for that (very) late acclaim? aha
