Not even close! "Vogue", "Like a Prayer" and "4 Minutes" are probably the nearest but still quite far from getting there.

Diamond songs never existed until during 2000's iTunes song sales have increased a lot as songs were selling from $0.99 to $0.49 sometimes.
Physical single sales were always quite lower compared as usually the singles were sold for $2.99 or even $10.99 for a maxi-single (there were a few Mariah Carey singles sold at $0.49 and $0.99 during the 90's so she could get another forgetable #01 song but none else was doing that - sometimes songs stalled at #02 or #03 even selling at those prices!).

Best selling physical single of all time in US (if I'm not mistaken) was "Candle in the Wind 1997" by Elton John that had 8 million sales (still 2 million short from diamond). This Princess Diana homage/charity single was quite a phenomenon as most huge monster hits from the 80's and 90's have not sold more than 2 or 3 million at best each in US!

I thought Vogue would be diamond by RIAA since that's her biggest song.

The only physical Diamond single since RIAA established was Candle in the wind 1997.

Other best selling physical singles sold no more than 5 million copies, such as WE ARE THE WORLD,I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU.

Most of number one singles sold 500k to 1 million during the 80s and 90s.

Physical by olivia newton john sold over 2 million units and became the second best selling single of 1980s.

Besides that info being fake, as she was obviously not the only one discounting physical singles, the remark about those #1s being forgettable is clearly baiting and off topic. So refrain from those kind of comments and stick to Madonna, please.

She discounts a lot of her singles to 0.49 cents of dollar like Fantasy, One Sweet Day, My All, Heartbreater, Loverboy, etc

I didn’t say she didn’t. I said she wasn’t the only one. And that the comments about those #1s being forgettable or not are unnecessary.
                Back to Madonna, please.

                  • Glad Mariah talk has been shut down. Madonna is never discussed in Mariah’s threads but she’s a topic in almost all Madonna’s threads. I like to celebrate Madge’s achievements without belittling another legend. They are both unforgettable.

“Barlow was apprehensive about releasing the track, but due to contractual obligations he had to release it. The song became Barlow's second consecutive number-one release on the UK Singles Chart, following "Forever Love", and was certified silver by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).”

Madonna had 14 # 1s in UK with Love Won’t Wait?

                      Thank u.

American Pie is a cover so she's still have 13 #1 as a songwriter

Mariah/Sony were smart in doing that. I am guilty of buying a few of those for 49 cents at Sam Goody when I was younger. I always say this, was it FAIR? No. It probably denied someone else a #1 single, but was it smart for marketing? Yes. If Madonna, Whitney and Janet did the same with a lot of their top 5 hits they'd probably all be pretty equal with #1 singles. "I'll Remember", "Erotica," "Secret," "If," "Any Time, Any Place" all would have been #1, interesting they didn't play the "game" as much as others.

Yes true. I was in the states back then and saw them selling that cheap at the tower record in nyc. A Proud witness to watch the cheapest and first ever bargain singles in history to manipulate the charts and inflate the sales..dont have to be ashamed. Thats part of the history. No one can hide it.
And ny times panned it about her attempt toward chart manipulation after a while of course. I saw them happening it all.
