A career spanning playlist featuring 50 #1s isn’t a smart idea - there’s nothing to be gained from doing that. If all the remixes are edits of existing remixes and placed onto an actual album, Warner only has to pay for the mastering and production - it’s a very low outlay for them.
But the whole point of the Warner re-issue project is to monetise Madonna’s catalogue. Warner isn’t messing around with a playlist.
If this is for the fans, it’s possible that it’s not going to be aimed at chart success but simply marketed towards fans - possibly released in individual volumes or bundles, so fans can cherrypick which version they want (i.e. Vol. 1, Vol. 2, Vol. 3 etc) as the cost of a vinyl release is going to be huge for 50 tracks.

Taylor Swift will certainly be TOP 20 of all time one day but at rate her albums are selling she will probably need at least a 2 or 3 more album releases to do so. Kylie Minogue must get into the TOP 5 with 1 or 2 new album releases as her album keeps returning to the charts and sold over 150k in UK already.
Janet Jackson may return to the TOP 30 best selling females of all time after her documentary (if it helps her catalog sales enough for that) since she is not that far from Alicia Keys and have a bigger catalog (and Alicia Keys is bombing lately - her latest album peaked #12 and stayed 2 weeks inside TOP 100).
I believe Whitney Houston total includes "Bodyguard OST" sales on these numbers.Last edited by MadNuno; Sat January 15, 2022, 14:45.

Also a 50 NUMBER ONES album is pretty POWERFULL and will atract more media attention than any other thing she could do now (especially in a year when she comemorates 40 years carreer anniversary.

Strange how "Keep It Together" SPS are so low compared to some album tracks you posted before when this was an official single. Sure not having a video it's hurting his SPS figures too a bit (not that "Holiday" needed a video to have goo SPS numbers).
She should upload the BAT performance to YouTube (or an edited version) - it would certainly help a bit.
The same for "Causing a Commotion" that still have the live WTGT performance playing sometimes on TV music video channels and yet it's not on her YouTube promoting the song.

I don't think anyone can get ahead of Madonna in terms of sales in U.K!
Also, isn't Madonna around 30M sold not certified? Britney is also 5.3M sold not certified of course.Last edited by britneylinda; Sat January 15, 2022, 15:32.

We need to take into account that any Platinum album may have almost 300k more sales (especially if the record companies in question aren't updating certification numbers for a long time).
Barbra does have much more album releases than Mariah and almost all of her album were last certified a few weeks after release only (and never again). Many never even got a certification at all (but doesn't mean that meanwhile didn't sold enough to be certified and never were as certifications were not automatic and had to be paid back then).
Some of them were not even certified when released in UK but may have sold quite a lot in the long run as she have changed labels and old label may not want spend money re-certificating the albums (will probably do it once she dies). Mariah returned to Sony that updated her certs not long ago (so she probably doesn't have much more sales to add there... but she may be at 6 million already because of her Christmas song).
Barbra does have quite a few albums from the 70's and 80's that may need big re-certifications (they are only automatic for digital releases so everything released before 2005 may need certifications).
Numbers don't seem too off when you see that Barbra released 59 (36 studio albums, 9 live albums, 11 compilations plus 2 OSTs credited to her - from 15 OSTs she was in) and have many undercertifications. Mariah Carey released less around half the albums.
I bet many of her older non-certified albums sold probably at least enough for siver or gold since she have been having Hit albums until recently (her latest 2 albums peaked #05 and #06 in 2018 and 2021) while Mariah barely achieves a TOP 40 album anymore (her latest albums peaked #40 and #44 in UK in 2018 and 2020).
