I agree with you here--the numbers in Madonna's case don't really add up. Doesn't she get about 1.9 million streams a day on Spotify? Thats' way more than 291 million streams.

I don’t see it that RS position too tragic, for example she’s above of JLo who put out music, promotes like crazy and did the Super Bowl, she also did like 2/3 of what Britney did and she’s more millennial and also had new music out and a Xmas song, Madonna was mute this year ignoring Levitating that did like 30M but are not credited to her Spotify stats.

We also need to keep in mind that the US is not her main market on Spotify at least, the top 5 countries are always Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Italy and UK; so I’ll take this and celebrate it!

Hung Up on track to hit 200M by November.
MateriL Girl on track to hit 200M by early March.

This is about US streams only and this is probably one of Madonna's smallest markets for streaming around the world since she was cut out from radio since 2003 there. Would love to see a chart about Worldwide streams but I guess that unfortunally there isn't one.
Getting her new music basically banned in America in 2003 really hurt her sales in America and it probably impacts America's perception of her to this day. But looking back on it, Ray of Light and Music were bigger in ther est of the world than they were in America.

I actually don't think her year-end position is that bad. Most of her streaming comes from playlisting of her back catalogue and we all know pop catalogues don't last in popularity as long as rock catalogues. It's just the nature of pop music and being a popstar. Madonna will get a small boost on the year she releases new music, but otherwise #428 sounds about right.

This is also an American chart that is dominated by rap, hiphop, RnB,, even country. I don't even know who the #6 most streamed artist is, and haven't heard of about 1/3 of the top 100.

I'm sure Madonna was way higher on 2019 Year End. And will be even higher after her biopic too.
    I hope so!

Bruce released a new album in 2020 (chart topping "Letter To You") and Elton has a big Christmas hit ("Step Into Christmas") to his name.
