The release date is wrong for most of the songs on BPI database. It doesn’t mean that certification covers only sales from 2005 onwards.
The song was certified Silver (200k) back in the day based on physical sales and now it has reached Gold for 400k total units adding digital sales and streaming.
Only problem with BPI automatic certs is for those songs/albums released before 1991, so nothing to do with Ray of Light.Comment

Inspired by the discussion about whether Frozen Remix could surpass the 100 million mark or not by the end of the year, I decided to take look at all the next big milestones we're about to have until 2022 is over. For that, I decreased 3% of her weekly streams based on this past week, so if her numbers collapsed from now on for any of these albums/songs, it could take a little longer (or even get there faster, in case her streams go up). Basically this is just for fun, so don't take everything too seriously. We all know how streaming is unpredictable.
Anyway, here are what we could look forward:
ALBUMS:
Like a Prayer - 400 million (~10 weeks)
Hard candy - 300 million (~12 weeks)
Like a Virgin - 600 million (~16 weeks) *probably it will take a little longer cause the album streams have been decreasing recently*
I'm Breathless - 200 million (~24 weeks)
True Blue - 500 million (~30 weeks)

I very much doubt it’s a record - without looking I’d guess Taylor Swift has already done it. At best Madonna is probably the only female artist to have done it across albums spanning four different decades, but that’s an achievement as oppose to a record.Originally posted by upushme View Post

Even that isn’t a record because Barbra already has a #1 album in six separate decades and Madonna can’t even attempt that until the 2030s (by which Barbra might be up to seven decades).
