We have probably overestimade the meaning of viral! 300 .ooo (almost ) streams for a 1984 song is already phenomenon !

People said that without even listening to it. Glad 4 Minutes is slaying right now (on her streaming chart).

As far I can remember, Take a Bow was released on a a very busy week, around Christmas time. Two weeks later would crack the Top 10 for sure.
Miles Away wasn't promoted at all.

Her debut era was fundamentally a flop in the UK. Holiday was released in January 1984 and managed to go top ten, but everything else flopped and Madonna didn’t really get going here until Like a Virgin:

Everybody - Did not chart (1982)
Lucky Star - Did not chart (Sep 1983)
    Holiday - #6 (Jan 1984)
    Madonna - #37 (Feb 1984)
    Lucky Star - #14 (Mar 1984)
    Borderline - #56 (June 1984)
    Like a Virgin - #3 (Nov 1984)
    Like a Virgin (album) - #1 (Nov 1984)
    Material Girl - #3 (Mar 1985)
    Crazy For You - #2 (Jun 1985)
    The First Album - #6 (Jul 1985)
    Into The Groove - #1 (Jul 1985)
    Holiday - #2 (Aug 1985)
    Angel - #5 (Sep 1985)
    Gambler - #4 (Oct 1985)
    Dress You Up - #5 (Dec 1985)
    Borderline - #2 (Jan 1986)
    Live To Tell - #2 (Apr 1986)
    Lucky Star - #83 (Jun 1986)
    Papa Don’t Preach (Jun 1986)

It was only with reissues that her entire debut (aside from Holiday) managed to find any sort of success, and only after Like a Virgin was released. With eight single releases in 1985 alone, there was very little room for anything else to be released - and I guess after Lucky Star’s third release (and second flop) they gave up… until 1991 when Holiday was released for a third time (peaking at #5)

Warner dropped the ball with Take a Bow, Oh Father, One More Chance, Love Profusion and Miles Away, with all missing the top ten (and Miles Away only peaking at #39).

I really don't like 4 minutes but it's nice to see some songs over 300k. Wondering if Celebration will be part of the setlist, it's been rising a lot in the past few days. I thought MG was becoming viral again on TikTok, but it's not really showing on the streams.

I'm SO glad 4M its getting its flowers. Now if only Music and Die Another Die would rise or become viral, we could say every album of her from the 2000s has a hit in the streaming era. C'mon, gen Z
