On February 3 1987, Madonna’s True Blue album was certified 4x platinum, for sales of 4 million units in the USA.
The album was recorded during the first year of Madonna's marriage to Sean Penn. She dedicated the album to Penn, "The coolest guy in the universe." Deemed Madonna's most girlish album yet, True Blue deals with Madonna's view of love, work and dreams as well as disappointments. According to Madonna, the title was from a favorite expression of her then husband Penn and his very pure vision of love. The album was her "unabashed valentine" for Sean. ❤"Complaining is an advertisement for stupidity"

On February 5 1983, Madonna’s Everybody charted at #37 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs (later renamed the Hot Dance Music/Club Play) chart in the USA.
Madonna’s reaction to the first time she heard Everybody on the radio:
“I was living on the Upper West Side, 99th and Riverside, and about 7:00 at night I had the radio on in my bedroom, on WKTU, and I heard ‘Everybody‘. I said ‘Oh, my God, that’s me coming out of that box.’ It was an amazing feeling.”

I think Madonna should stop releasing music in physical form, yeah might flop harder but at least she would be forcing the "relics" to get on board or maybe that would just make them even more bitter. Hmmm who knowsLast edited by DavieX; Mon February 6, 2023, 03:33.

The problem is younger people have more time/interest in listening to music a lot. A large chunk of any musician who's been around for a while's fan base will be older and therefore a big part of it is that a lot will have more important things in their lives (families, work etc) - thus affecting the amount of streaming they can do and chart positions...cutting out physicals would kill her sales and any chance of charting...

Younger people are buying the most physical copies due to vinyl resurgence but older people are not buying as much as young , it’s not like FEL did huge pure sales for its first week and continued to, she’s just not as popular as she used to be.
the immaculate collection has not charted in the US for years and could easily if she had more fans buying she does not . Her streams are low and her pure is low nowadaysLast edited by BritneyMadonnastan; Mon February 6, 2023, 11:44.

Teenagers simply have more free time to listen to music, which is why newer music acts dominate the charts. The older people get the less important music factors in their lives. The vast majority of people are casual fans and music just isn’t as important to them as (I assume) it is to people like us on a music forum.
I mean how many albums do your parents buy or stream? My mother just puts an 80s playlist on shuffle or the music channels on TV, and my Dad just plays Elvis when he’s in the car.
Madonna has many challenges in a streaming world, including her sex and her age. I don’t know the psychology behind it, but male stars have a larger audience regardless of their age. Perhaps women still viewed as a product and lack authenticity in music, who knows. But the trend is undeniable. That said, she’s the leader in her own lane and taken in context, she does incredibly well.
The key to increased streaming is going to be playlisting and catalogue promotion from Madonna and Warner. They are going to have to lead the horse to water, so to speak. But it’s worth noting that Madonna’s 3.6m streams per day only generate an approximate daily revenue of $18,000, which is then divided between label, artist and creatives involved.
Physical media sales have higher margins and Madonna can still chart high on the album charts, so that’s the right direction to be focusing on in my opinion - they just need to keep releasing products for us to buy
The limited edition FEL50 vinyl was 6000 copied at $100, right? Well that’s $600,000 in one go.I have a bad feeling about this.

Also, I can't see spending $10 every month on a streaming service to rent the music, when I can buy a song or two here and there and own it.
I am trying to stream more on YT n Amazon music, however.Madonna, The Holy Queen of Music!

(crappy opinion on True Blue aside).
Streaming has its advantages if you are going to benefit from it. I used to spent £10 a week on music, now I spend less than that a month and have access to almost all music. If I had to buy all the music I listened to I genuinely wouldn’t be able to afford it.
So that’s why I stream. I don’t do it to boost Madonna’s stats, though she does get the lion share.I have a bad feeling about this.

Plus we all know Madonna stole our souls years ago. That’s why we’re stuck here forever, counting Spotify streams.I have a bad feeling about this.

I think it is just the organic change... I feel that in the past a random purchase of a cheap greatest hits was easier... we used to see cds everywhere... not you need to want to go and buy music.... now you stream and she has so many songs that you can just play the song more than a cd... now tou Spotify holiday, before you picked up TIC for 5 dollars at Walmart... she needs to grow her streaming popularity... unfortunately u less you die it is very hard for any over 50.
