  • Thanks @Instinct

I agree with you, "Till the world ends" did pretty good in several European markets, France is one of them as you posted.

IMO "Till the world ends" was a smash hit single pretty much everywhere except for just a few markets here and there. Here in Latin America it was popular.

Yep, it seems that Latin America really embraced not just TTWE, but the whole era.

      • BTW "I wanna go" was a pretty nice hit in France (in fact one of her best performing songs there) and let me tell you that it was also a hit here in Latin America.

Some people claim its a local hit but it still did fine in some markets. "Circus" (song) on the other hand didn't really smash anywhere outside North America / Oceania.

            Trivia:

*Despite placing at #48 on the Hot 100 year-end chart, "Toxic" music video stood the test of time and now ranks as one of the 10 most popular and recurrent video hits from the 2004 year, being more remembered than dozens of hits from the time. It is also the only female music video appearing inside the Top 10.

            * "Toxic" beat the #1 song on the Hot 100 year-end-chart of 2004 ("Yeah" by Usher) as well as 7 other Top 10 hits on the year-end chart.

            * "Everytime" despite never reaching the Top 10 and ranking at #83 on the 2004 Hot 100 year-end chart ends beating up 78 other hit songs from 2004.

            • Great idea @MrLeonix Toxic is a great example of the Hot 100 not representing a song's actual popularity and impact. Everytime is also quite high despite only peaking at #15. Overall, she has two of the most watched hits from 2004.

You can do this for her iconic 1998-2004 hits and get great results for all of them. She may not be a streaming force, but her classics do get a pretty good amount of views and streams.

I think its part of the legacy and true impact. Doing this research I realized that there are so many hits that are so forgotten these days, like they were hits for the moment but didn't really trascend over time. I think the recurrent stats can meassure part of the legacy and without a doubt "Toxic" and "Everytime" are as of today two of the most watched and beloved music video hits from 2004. "Toxic" is pretty much the most emblematic and remembered female hit from that year.

Actually I will do this, I just started with 2004 and I will continue with other years from the old days. Its interesting to know how the songs have survived over the years.

It depends. If its just a stand alone single it won't likely reach 100m. If its a proper lead single then it likely will.

Have a feeling it will be a stand alone single bit like ooh la la and pretty girls, but fingers crossed it does moderately well

                                    • I took the 2002 Billboard Hot 100 Year - End Chart and compiled each of their singles' music videos' views on Youtube.

But I gave it a twist, as you all know 2002 was a particular year where Britney performed tragically on the Hot 100 to the point that she had 0 songs charting on the year end chart. So I added all the Britney singles that were released during the 2002 Billboard year-end chart period in order to see how her "Flop" singles compare to the big hits of 2002.

                                      This is where Britney landed!

Please take into consideration that all of these songs (except Britney's and Celine's) hit the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, Celine's hit at #22.

Not bad for a #86 peaking single and another song that missed the Hot 100 entirely. Now in 2018 we know how the songs stood the test of time.

                                      • I remember how "Glory" opened with 111,000 units without any ticket bundle and people were like "Horrible numbers", "she's over", "tragic", etc.

. . . And now we see so many people praising way worse numbers than those.

                                        . . . Nevermind . . . All of Britney's 9 studio albums opened with more than 100K units in US:

                                        • The radio was so anti-Pop when the hip-hop wave took over in the turn of the new millennium. If YouTube, iTunes and streaming were all over during those years, Britney seriously would have had way higher Hot 100 numbers and hits.

                                          • Nice analysis! While "Overprotected" and "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" were both international hits, they were nowhere as big as the likes of "(You Drive Me) Crazy", "Lucky", "Born to Make You Happy", etc, so it's nice that they stood the rest of time and seem to be holding up well these days, even without being performed in 15 years. "Boys" and "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" also hold up pretty nicely considering they weren't big hits or anything.

. . . And now we see so many people praising way worse numbers than those.

                                            . . . Nevermind . . . All of Britney's 9 studio albums opened with more than 100K units in US:

                                            9) Glory - 111,000

I noticed this too It's funny how she got dragged for pulling 111K nearly 20 years into her career, while many other people get applauded for doing less. Unfortunately, this happens more often than not, so it's not even surprising anymore.

I believe Britney, Beyoncé, Eminem and Justin Timberlake are the only acts from their generation who have yet to open with less than 100K. They will always have a solid fan base and public interest no matter how much they decline.

Having 9/9 albums debut with at least 100K is a very good result overall. Say what you want about "Glory", but many artists would kill to be able to open with 111K in this day and age.

If she continues with Vegas there will be no ticket bundle. I'm quite sure there wasn't one for Glory due to her contract. That's the only reasonable explanation.

Yes she was dragged and her peaks were completely dismissed. People were like "Oh those peaks have no merit because its super easy to chart high around summer, everyone can do that" .... Obviously not everyone can do that (not even during the summer) but she was treated like a piece of sh*t to be honest.

People have always been so pressed about her for some reason, like when she debuted at #2 in UK people were trying the most to dismiss the peak in any sense: "It wasn't that good", "its summer everyone easily charts high now", etc.

Sure. It has sold over 20K there tho, but yeah it was a flop. No one is saying otherwise. I was rather addressing how people rave about much worse debuts than that one.

I'd rather have a flop album with a great peak than getting a flop album that misses the top 10 and that will still be out of the chart on second week anyway. If you're going to flop give me the peak at least.

Peaks are what people, media and press remember anyway: "the top 10 single", "the top 10 album", "the number hit", etc no one remembers or refers to albums as "the album that spent xx weeks on chart" outside of limited chart forums.
