      • Let's appreciate "Britney" sales considering minimal radio support.

        US = 5.4M
        WW = 11,5M

        US airplay - 71,3M (overall)
        UK airplay - in both, year-end airplay charts 2001 & 2002 she didn't have a song in top 50

        Same for the rest of the world. Thank God for MTV and Britney's hard core promo back then.

          "Britney" did great for all the radio issues and lack of US hits it had. I don't know if there's another album from a pop star that has sold 5M in US without not even one top 20 single.

          • It was also the 4th best selling album of 2001.

            I really think it would've sold more in the U.S. with full radio support. Probably closer to 6 million.

              The album placed as the #64 best selling album of the 00s decade in the US (According to Billboard) and placed as the 34th best selling album of the 00s decade WW according to Mediatraffic.

                The best selling albums of 2001 (shipments wise):
                1. Dido - No Angel - 8.6M
                2. Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory - 8.6M
                3. Destiny's Child - Survivor - 7.8M
                4. Shaggy - Hotshot - 7,2M

                6. Jennifer Lopez - J.Lo - 6,8M
                ...

                I would say even more. Singles are selling the album, not promo that we all crying for.
                Yes, promo boots sales for some time. Depends is it Grammy performance or Kids Choice Awards performance, but it doesn't last very long.

                  Very impressive. I think it's also among the Top 60-70 best selling female albums of all time.

                  True. Definitely over 6 million tbh. It sold so well just based off her name and the huge success of her first two albums.

                  • It was #5 in 2001 but #4 overall, I think.

                    1° Shakira – Laundry Service
                    2° Alicia Keys – Songs in A Minor
                    3° Pink – Missundaztood
                    4° Britney Spears – Britney
                    5° Destiny's Child – Survivor

                          I Love EVERYTHING about it... But I love Megamixes in general... Janet'sn 04 Megamix (also by Chris Cox) ranks as her 3rd most listened to song in my library...
