• Don’t understand why they don’t care about certifications it’s clearly hurting her legacy that only the fanebase knows how much she sold and it’s not just in USA everytime was her last certified single in France and she clearly had a lot eligible singles after this...
Australia canada japan Belgium Brazil Denmark and Swiss has a lot of her stuff undercertified.

That twitter account is always posting very outdated stuff. Sometimes it's ridiculous. They tweeted a couple months back announcing that Blackout surpassed the million mark in the US when it got there in... mid 2011.

When did Italy's airplay chart become a thing? Would be cool to see how her singles have performed there!

• ^^I don’t know how to quote from another thread but user _makeme shared some of Janet’s airplay chart runs in Italy from Velvet Rope era in her chart analysis thread. So I guess it was already a thing!

• thanks! toxic is just as huge as expected and i could see it passing 400 million by the beginning of 2020!
wonanizer is another nice suprise, 1.2 milliom a week for a song with 160 million is a good rate and it showed the song is still remembred.
on the other side, make me recurent streams are simply horrundes
gimmie more is doing good for it's streams, i suggest it's because it was added to that big playlist last week

I'm very glad Gimme More is doing great, but I do wonder why Pretty Girls is edging Radar out, I would've sworn PG would've got less than 100,000.

• I completely forgot about doing it! Thanks!

"Womanizer" is doing amazingly. I'm glad to see that. I remember it used to be a huge flop on streaming platforms prior to 2016.

It goes without saying that "Toxic", "...Baby One More Time" & "Oops!...I Did It Again" are pulling massive numbers. "Gimme More", "Work Bitch", "Circus" & "Sometimes" are doing quite good as well.

I mean Toxic isn’t pulling 300k daily views one YouTube, and Oops and Womanizer barely have 100k daily views.. On Spotify she’s doing much better! The only exceptions are Overprotected and I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman, which are doing much better on YouTube

Kinda surprised that Slumber Party is doing practically the same amount of streams that HIAM/Make Me/Pretty Girls are doing, considering its terrible chart performance.

• Unpopular opinion, but I don't think Slumber Party's streams are terrible considering it charted for 1 week. 85 million on YouTube and 50 million on Spotify is more than I'd expect tbh.

I agree that it's quite surprising to see it doing similar to "Make Me" and "Pretty Girls" (considering the flop it was) as all of those songs were released around similar times when Spotify had already taken off, so it's ok to compare their streaming performances directly.

However I'm going to defend "Hold It Against Me" in that comparison context as that song was released before Spotify had taken off or was a thing. Yes it's practically forgotten these days and pales in comparison to some other of her older hits but still "Slumber Party" was released during the Spotify / Streaming era, it should be doing way better by default, we are in a current era where even flop songs get quite decent streams (as sales are dead).

Yeah, Tik Tok will fall off the top 10 in no time and for the past year or so, Toxic has been doing more than Crazy In Love.

The others are either too close in daily streams (i.e: Bleeding Love, If I Ain't Got You) or too strong (Party In the USA, Halo).

“In The Zone” is set to enter the UK album charts at #9 this week, behind new entries from Busted, Michael Jackson, Kylie Minogue, The Beatles and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, continuing her row of top ten debuts.
In the USA, she is set to debut at #1, selling over 500,000 copies this week alone, having sold over 250,000 in the first day of release.

“Me Against The Music” is #1 in Australia, Ireland, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Spain, Phillipines, and at #2 in the UK, Italy, Hong Kong, Norway, #5 in Germany and top 10 in nearly all other countries – it is currently #10 on USA pop radio.

In that case, "Britney" probably sold around 350K or more.

• So, I was inspired by Mariah's new RIAA certifications to try and make some estimations for what Britney's should look like...

An example of the method I'm using:

"Toxic" has 343,554,139 streams on Spotify as of October 10. We can estimate 35% of that total comes from the US (120,243,948).

We can't ignore the existence of Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, Google Play Music, etc. In fact, Apple Music is bigger than Spotify in the US.

As of the report from last year, Spotify had 132 million of the 212 million streaming users in the World. The new document tells us that while Spotify increased its user count to 157 million, there is now 272 million streaming users in total. It highlights in good part the fastest increase of Apple Music lately.
Using ChartMasters' comprehensive streaming method (272/157* Spotify streams), we get a total of 208,320,725 audio streams in the US.

On YouTube, the song has 410,544,290 views. Around 25% of Britney's views come from the US, so we can apply that ratio here as well, which gives us 102,636,072 video streams.

2,400,000 paid downloads + 1,388,804 audio units + 684,240 video units = 4,473,000 units.

• Thanks for the work Instinct. Both "Baby One More Time" and "Circus" are so close to 4x Platinum by now.

The "Circus" era really had a strong first half with the Womanizer-Circus sequence. Two Top 3 hits on the Hot 100, two back to back #1 Pop Radio hits, soon to be her first album with two +100million songs on Spotify, and soon to be her only album with two 4x Platinum eligible singles at the RIAA.

Also none of her other albums are remotely close to have two 4x Platinum singles so "Circus" may be her only one to do so and stay that way for a very long while once the "Circus" (song) becomes eligible.
