            UK albums chart

            Britney Spears - The Essential

            128-130-136-out-128...

            01. 10/04/2020 - #128 [988 sales]
            02. 17/04/2020 - #130 [1,026 sales]
            03. 24/04/2020 - #136 [1,025 sales] Total: 34,647
            xx. 01/05/2020 - N/A
            xx. 08/05/2020 - N/A
            xx. 15/05/2020 - N/A
            xx. 22/05/2020 - N/A
xx. 29/05/2020 - N/A Total: 35,144 (an average of just 99 copies per week over the previous 5 weeks)
            xx. 05/06/2020 - N/A [476 sales] Total: 35,620
            04. 12/06/2020 - #128 [1,003 sales] Total: 36,623

It's kind of annoying that Britney only makes the Top 200 album charts if streaming is fully included towards one specific Greatest Hits album (at least I assume that's why she has suddenly re-appeared at #128 with The Essential). As the above shows, there's a major lack of consistency when it comes to whether or not The Essential gets much streaming data attached to it.

Presumably during May most streaming went towards The Singles Collection instead, or maybe even Greatest Hits: My Prerogative, but neither of these albums made the Top 200 chart in the past 6 weeks.

In yesterday's midweeks The Singles Collection is back, showing at #162 with 561 sales... and an increase of over 999% compared to the sales it had on the previous Wednesday, lol. This would mean The Singles Collection had sales of 51 or less in the Wednesday 10th June mids.

The website is now programmed to update streaming EAS daily based on Spotify numbers. So all artists' totals change daily by a small amount, but the new totals don't include any new pure sales, digital downloads, etc. Just streams.

This is the chart that updates regularly: https://chartmasters.org/2017/10/bes...f-all-time/18/

The daily update is based on Spotify streams only right?

                      Jay from buzzjack:

The Singles Collection returns to the chart this week, at #155! The last time it was in the chart was 13th March 2020.

                      The Singles Collection (#38, 42 weeks+)

                      [13th Entry: 19/06/2020] 155...

                      Total: 226,733 (19th June 2020)

It sold 943 copies this week, meaning it had a total of 225,790 on 12th June. The last total we knew before that was 224,237 on 13th March. That was an increase of just 1,553 in 12 weeks (an average of 129 or 130 copies a week).

It's annoying that not much (or any?) streaming data is applied to this album over a period of weeks/months. Progress towards Platinum is going to be extremely slow. If it could maintain ~950 sales a week it would only take a year and a half to reach Platinum, but if it continues to be sporadic then it could be like 7 years at least, or even approaching a decade.

The low weekly average sales for both The Essential and The Singles Collections in the weeks where both albums are absent from the Top 200 makes me wonder if Greatest Hits: My Prerogative gets the data instead?

It seems that if Britney had just one Greatest Hits available then she would likely always do well enough to be Top 200.

Yes it is based on Spotify streams, but it includes streams from Apple Music, etc, by using a formula based on Spotify's market share of streaming.

So the daily update includes EAS from all streaming platforms except YouTube. I like this new chart because you can see how quickly the newer acts are rising up the list. Of course we still have to wait for the full update for each artist to get the full total from all types of sales....but the guy at chartmaster doesn't seem to update much anymore so this automated chart is quite convenient.

Oh thank you! I just checked and to estimate streaming numbers from other platforms they use the 272/157 * Spotify numbers formula. I guess they will add YouTube numbers to the artist’ total when they do a full update

Just for a little clarification, if you want to use ChartMasters method you need to divide YouTube number by 11750 and not by 1500 like with Spotify numbers. With this method you have around 375,000 SEAs

Yes. But also digital track sales at chart masters has 10:1.5 ratio, so that would make 850,000 digital sales = 128,000 EAs in this case, right? My math isn't the greatest anymore

                                • Okay so correct me if I'm wrong but I think the new totals, using chartmasters formula and the numbers provided above, should be:

                                  400,000 pure album sales

356,000 EAS from audio streaming platforms

                                  19,000 EAS from YouTube

128,000 EAS from digital track sales

                                  = 903,000 EAS for Glory

And this total makes sense, because chartmasters had it at 874,00 about about 14 months ago, so glory sold 29,000 EAS in 14 months, equal to about ~25,000 units a year worldwide.

                                  Sound about right?

                                  • Scrapping the original Make Me... video really hurt the album imo. I mean if a song like Pretty Girls, which was less commercially successful, was able to garner over 180M views I’d say Make Me... with a decent video could’ve easily reached those numbers. Heck, even Slumber Party has more views. The album could’ve moved more units
