  • Thank you for your hard work MrLeonix! The 90s were heavily dominated by rock/alternative genres and streaming has made that clear. Only a few pure pop songs appear in that list, such as "...Baby One More Time", "I Want It That Way", "Wannabe", etc.

Btw, speaking of "...Baby", it got nearly 300k streams on Spotify yesterday...

Given how much it's increasing lately, I predict it will hit 300 million streams in around 3-4 months.

      • Britney Jean vinyl is coming on April 17th

It will definitely help the album sales a lot compared to the previous vinyls

Singles that will hit first / new certifications in UK this or next year:

              - Sometimes - 1x Platinum (2021)
              - Born To Make You Happy - Gold (2021)
              - My Only Wish (This Year) - Silver (2020)
              - Overprotected - Silver (2020)
              - Toxic - 2x Platinum (2021)
              - Everytime - 1x Platinum (2021)
              - Gimme More - Gold (2020)
              - Piece Of Me - Gold (2021)
              - Scream & Shout - 2x Platinum (2021)

IMO “Overprotected” and “Gimme More” are the closest ones to new certifications in this current year , “Over” should get certified anytime soon and “Gimme” by the end of this year.

              - ”Blackout” is very close to 1x Platinum and “Britney Jean” might get a Silver certification next year.

                      It isn't.

Of course it'll get there eventually but I don't think it'll happen neither this or next year. At the moment I don't estimate anything higher than 160K units for it

Do you have any estimations for MATM and MP?

                        • MP and MATM both do terribly on streaming so they're probably not gonna be certified. Maybe in 20 years.

I'd say around 150K for MATM and 140K for MP at best ... And like Instinct said they both do terrible on streaming so they won't likely ever get certified.

                              • From what I researched "Toxic" might be one of the 50 or 60 most streamed songs of the 2000s decade on Spotify.

                                I have this info:

                                - Only 4 dance songs appear on the list ("Tik Tok", "I Gotta Feeling", "Toxic" and "Bad Romance").

                                • It’s such a shame that MATM and MP were released when singles sales were dead and ended up doing terribly on streaming, otherwise they would’ve easily snatched a certification

Don’t know how it works in other countries but IMO they definitely eligible for gold in Sweden or Swiss and Italy, chart wise they were bigger hit that toxic in some countries.
really sad to see mp doing so bad was a nice hit back then

Sadly in Italy the certifications system started in 2009 so pre-2009 sales don’t count but they would probably be eligible for gold if they counted everything

                                                  • 9 years ago today Rihanna & Britney released the “S&M Remix”

The remix was met with mixed reviews and Britney’s heavily nasal vocals were questioned by some sources however it simultaneously held huge hype on release making this particular version of the song an immediate #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in a remarkable year for Spears on the chart (that same year “Hold It Against Me”, “Till The World Ends”, and “I Wanna Go” also peaked at #1, #3 and #7 respectively).

The song ended up as one of the very few high charting female collaboration releases of the entire 10s decade and made of Britney one of the very few female acts with multiple #1 songs on the Hot 100 during the 10s decade.

                                                    ——-

Overall 2011 was considered a successful year for Britney on the Hot 100 chart and the US radio charts making her the 10th biggest Hot Artist of 2011 on the year-end chart and ultimately giving her a placement in Billboard’s 100 Artists Of The Decade list.
