                    • Happy 7th anniversary to Work Bitch!

                      Spotify
                      Work Bitch – 188,477,420

                      YouTube
                      Work B**ch (Official Music Video) – 338,287,196
                      Work B**ch (Official Audio) – 14,971,425
Work B**ch (Live from Apple Music Festival, London, 2016) – 2,349,230
                      Work Bitch (Auto-generated) – 5,691,018
                      Total: 361,298,869

549,776,289 streams between Spotify and YouTube. All in all, "Work Bitch" should have around 650-700 million streams around the world. Using MJD' comprehensive streaming method to estimate streams from Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, etc. we get a total of 326,534,128 audio streams. Assuming 40% of that comes from the US, we get 130,613,651. As for YouTube, let's say 25% of its views come from the US for a total of 90,324,717.

                      ~1 million downloads
                      ~602K video streams
                      ~870K audio streams

Around ~2.4 million units in the US. Could be more, could be less, but it's safe to say this is eligible for 2x Platinum. The estimations I did for "Toxic", "Womanizer" and "Circus" using this method were pretty spot on.

It's funny because this was considered the biggest flop ever when it came out and people were dragging Britney left and right. 7 years later this has become one of her signature songs, featured on several movies/TV shows, referenced and covered by many artists, etc. It'll hit 200 million streams on Spotify in a few months, too.

This is how its certifications should look like (based on my own estimations so don't take it as a fact)

                      United States - 2x Platinum
                      Canada - 3x Platinum
                      Australia - 1x Platinum
                      Sweden - 1x Platinum
                      Mexico - 1x Platinum
                      France - 1x Gold
                      Italy - 1x Gold
                      Denmark - 1x Gold
                      United Kingdom - 1x Silver

And certifications in other countries like New Zealand, Spain, Brazil and Japan are likely as well.

                      • ^ Peaked at #12 in US being eligible to Double / 2x Platinum on the RIAA right now and according to my estimations this could even be eligible to 3x Platinum in a couple years.

It’s worth mentioning that at the time this song was released streaming had already been added to Billboard charts (youtube views included). Despite knowing this her team decided to release this song without a music video on the first week which means that this #12 peaking song could have EASILY been another Top 10 single for Britney in the US had her team released the music video since day one for the song’s respective debut. In other words, it wasn’t Top 10 because they didn’t want to.

As for the UK, it became Britney’s 23rd Top 10 single in the country and was certified Silver by the BPI extending her record as one of the Top 5 female artists with the most Top 10 singles in UK’s history (22 out of the 23 songs were released with Britney as the lead act, only one was a feature).

She was 15 years into her career at the time she released this song and while many often consider the 2011 year as the last one where she got a solo hit song I personally consider “Work Bitch” her technical last solo hit song of her career (at least moderately).

Exactly. In fact I think it could have been a Top 5 hit if her team released the music video alongside the song (the video had huge buzz and was the 4th most watched that week, according to Kworb). Either way I think #12 is a respectable peak all things considered.

I think people had crazy expectations as this was the true follow up to "Scream & Shout" and she was coming off two huge eras. But I never considered "Work Bitch" a flop and I'm glad I didn't because now it's one of her signature hits. It outlasted many songs from that year that were considerably bigger on the charts.

I'm not 100% sure but it's definitely possible. It sold 150K pure, which is almost 2x Platinum (160K) based on pure sales alone.

                              • “Work Bitch” is not a bad song and became popular in the last years. Without it, “Britney Jean” wouldn’t receive Gold yet. Hopefully her label will update her certification someday

                                • So there's this person on ChartsInFrance who has been posting exact Soundscan figures for months and I'm just finding out

As of May 5 (before the #JusticeForGlory campaign), Glory had sold 213,000 copies (physical + digital + track equivalent sales). With streaming that figure increased to over 370,000.

After the campaign, it was the 135th best selling album of the week with 1,082 pure sales (1,393 units). Then a week later it sold 675 copies (1,185 units) thanks to the new cover.

They didn't say how much it sold the week Mood Ring came out, but it received 662k streams + 13k digital sales, so that's at least 1,113 units. So, Glory should be nearing 380,000 units now.

The week before #JusticeForGlory, the album sold 39 copies in the US (including 15 vinyls).

Google Translate is messy and I don't understand French so I don't understand what this means, but apparently it also got 369k US streams the week before. Not sure what the 2600 figure means.

En streaming... 2600 ex. tous titres confondus avec Make Me en premier. Donc avec cette affaire, on devrait quand même voir un bond !

EDIT: Il s'agit en fait des ventes incluant les équivalences streaming (369k écoutes).
                                  Some other stats:

Oops!...I Did It Again sold 4,808 pure copies to rank at #9 on Top Album Sales (August 24, 2020)

2727 copies from the picture disc
1525 copies from the UO purple splatter vinyl
                                  556 copies from the cassette

Britney Jean vinyl sold 2,910 copies as of May 18.

Isn’t 5k copies enough to enter the BB200? It seems impossible that Oops didn’t move an additional 200 units with streaming... So I guess her singles are counting towards her greatest hits albums maybe?

                                      • According to Rolling Stone Chart in the week (Aug 21 - Aug 27) BTS sold 4.6M copies and the Hamilton musical sold 4.9M

I don’t know if it’s really the same tracking week, but if it is 4.8M it’s pretty accurate

                                        • I went through his posts and he posts stats for many artists and not just Britney. So I think these figures are legit. Also, he posted that 13k figure for Mood Ring days before it was confirmed. I wish he would post totals for all her albums.

As for Oops not re-entering BB200, maybe it was a competitive week? #200 could have done like 5.5k units or maybe even more. And they most likely only counted the streams from the album tracks which are abysmal as we're talking about a 20 year old album after all. Screw those compilation albums.

Glory sold 30K units in 2 years.
                                          May 26, 2018: 341K
                                          May 5, 2020: 370K+

After that the album had three considerable boosts thanks to the campaign, the new cover, and of course, Mood Ring.

                                          • The album did 2,8 million streams on Spotify that week, using chartmasters formula would be 4.6M in every on-demand platform

on Rolling Stone chart the number 200 did 5.6M units

so OOPS would need 800 units at least that would between 1M-3M depending if the streams were free or paid

so even with the single accounted the album would still struggle to chart

That‘s really sad, so many things went wrong during this era :( It deserves so much better. I hope one day, when B10 comes out, it will also push a little bit “Glory”.
