        • WOW! Imagine having a 20 year old song that gets 600k streams a day. Only this legend can relate.

Lots of old songs had huge streams yesterday, some even are charting in Top 200 today...

                130 - Hips don't lie - 883,751
                142 - I gotta feeling - 839,270
                153 - Yeah! - 819,014
                182 - This Love - 725,505..

I think it's because Spotify launched the Time Capsule playlist for every user with old songs that popped up when you open Spotify.

"We made you a personalized playlist with songs to take you back in time to your teenage years. Bring on the memories with 2 hours of iconic throwback tracks — all picked just for you"

                    • Can we expect this playlist effect to last for a few days?

By the way does anyone know where Make Me... and Glory peaked on US Apple Music?

Thanks for sharing! Pretty good considering her first three albums sold huge amounts through imports that were never counted.

Do you have updated totals for her albums by any chance?

I suppose that in 2004 there was already a download chart as well because if I remember correctly isn’t Toxic certified gold in Japan? Unless that’s based on catalog sales. Shocked at Someday being her highest peaking single of the early 00’s and Don’t Let Me Be The Last To Know being her best selling physical single lol.

First "official" digital chart in Japan was launched in 2006 (RIAJ Monthly Ringtones). Toxic was certified gold in 2006 thanks to digital sales (then not covered by Oricon).

By the way do you have any info for Womanizer and Circus (or anything from Blackout onwards)? Thanks
Womanizer was huge. According to Sony Music, it was the 4th most downloaded Western song of 2009 on RecoChoku (Japan's equivalent to iTunes, but bigger). It remains uncertified for some reason.

The blockbuster single "Womanizer" from the album "Circus" (also included in the latest best "Complete Hit Singles") has been released.
RecoChoku has charted in at the top of the Western music annual ranking!

RecoChoku Western music / song annual ranking 4th

RecoChoku Western music full annual ranking 7th

“Womanizer” was huge / massive everywhere around the world (North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Oceania). Big digital sales in Japan, eligible for 5x Platinum in USA, 5 weeks at #1 in France, Platinum in UK (one of Britney’s Top 5 biggest singles in that country), etc ... here in Latin America it was pretty big for her too.

People were really thirsty for her comeback back in late 2008 / 2009.

I’m glad she had such global solo hit smash 10 years into her career and with a 6th studio album. That’s not as easy to achieve as some people think.
