“Toxic” is huge. I was checking the biggest female global smashes from around that time (2001-2005) when “Toxic” was released and the only song doing better than it is “Crazy In Love”.
Based on the two public streaming services we have (Spotify + Youtube) the numbers look like this:
Female smash hits (2001-2005)
- Beyoncé - Crazy In Love - 1,031,213,831 streams
- Britney Spears - Toxic - 952,555,859 streams
- Shakira - Whenever Wherever - 769,133,108 streams
- Avril Lavigne - Complicated - 744,230,773 streams
- Alicia Keys - If I Ain’t Got You - 714,309,818 streams
- Mariah Carey - We Belong Together - 699,975,180 streams
- Gwen Stefani - Hollaback Girl - 534,576,411 streams
- Madonna - Hung Up - 426,035,266 streams
- Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone - 422,145,532 streams

I couldn’t find Spotify numbers for Kylie’s “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” which was another huge female smash from that time. However I’m 100% sure it’s way lower than “Toxic” (currently at 161 million views on Youtube).
Toxic has been getting more Spotify streams than Crazy in Love for ages. It will pass it eventually

MrLeonix Indeed. It feels like "Toxic" is the leading female song of the early 2000's these days. The word "classic" gets thrown around all the time but this really is the definition of a legitimate classic.

Thanks for the contribution and nice to “Toxic” ahead of those huge hits.

Last October she got only 68.6 million (up 32%). She's doing amazingly.
I haven’t really paid attention to “My Only Wish” performance during previous all I know is that it’s over 130 million or something on Spotify. I also know it’ll basically get a Silver certification in UK this year.
.. But for those who have studied the song before. How many streams does it usually pull during November / December?

Last year it pulled 33.4 million from November 1st till December 31st.

Solid numbers. So we can expect the song to reach 170 million on Spotify this year.

^ good chance to become for a few weeks the 2nd most streamed 2000 female song on Spotify
currently the second spot belongs to Jumpin Jumpin by Destinys Child with 163M plays
That’s great. So eventually Britney will have the two biggest female songs from the year 2000 on Spotify (“Oops I Did It Again” and “My Only Wish”).

^ Nice to see Britney pulling healthy monthly listeners without any new music since 2016 (other than that “Mood Ring” bonus track) .... even Whitney Houston had “Higher Love” last year.

It has a chance at becoming the 2nd biggest female song of the year 2000 on Spotify, only after "Oops!...I Did it Again." The re-release will probably have some effect, too.

Love that her 18 million monthly listeners are all solo and organic. Hoping for 25+ million by December.
