      • 800k streams yesterday + already Top 200 globally + Top 30 in Germany? This is slaying.

            • Christmas songs by solo female artists on Spotify Global 200

              1. Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas Is You
              2. Ariana Grande - Santa Tell Me
              3. Brenda Lee - Rockin Around the Christmas Tree
              4. Kelly Clarkson - Underneath the Tree
              5. Britney Spears - My Only Wish (This Year)

Pretty impressive given the amount of divas that have released entire Christmas albums that failed miserably, yet My Only Wish isn't even a single.

              • And those 800K streams are only that chart number, the counter number will be higher too!

MOW should be able to enter the Billboard Global 200 soon.

And those 800K without even charting on the US Spotify right? ... the power of being non-local / global

Amazing. Does it have a chance to crack the hot 100 this year or improve on its peak on the holiday songs chart - 49.

No, the US doesn't really check for it. It's mostly a classic in Europe.

Europe loves Xmas singles. Ariana's and Katy's have peaked in the top 25 in the UK. I remember seeing Britneys song on the streaming chart one year also. Just reading that Megan Trainor covered it on her album.

                                  • The fun part is that “My Only Wish” was never released as a single or promoted. A 20 years old random album track slowly turning into a classic organically and just because (and without US support)

                                    • That is not really correct - in fact It was promoted this year with the release of its exclusive vinyl singles. Plus it has an official audio video on youtube since 2013. It also had original artwork as far back as 2000. Plus it was officially added to Britney's own spotify page this year along with the original artwork.

It first appeared on an album entitled Platinum Christmas, which is what it was recorded for. Since then, it has been included on a further eight Christmas compilation albums such as Christmas Hits, Pure Christmas, The Christmas Album etc. So it gets streams from a lot of different compilations. It doesn't really need any promotion as people simply press play on those albums at this time of year so it gets streams by virtue of it's inclusion. And it is receiving promotion via those compilations.

It will be interesting to see if it can make any official chart these year like it has in the past. Such a cute little ditty.

                                      • So it was promoted this year because 5K (or something) vinyls were printed ..

WOW amazing promotion .. I'm pretty sure that's the reason the song got an +800K update

                                        • Yeah the release of the vinyl singles clearly brought it back into focus this year and a lot of fans who probably forgot about it have been checking it out again. But of course the biggest driver is its inclusion in those big christmas albums on spotify and the copious playlists that it is included in. Would be cool to see it make the Top 25 in the UK, she would join modern pop girls Leona Lewis, Ariana and Katy Perry with having an original Top 25 Christmas single It's best showing to date is No 81 on the Streaming Chart in 2018, but it has not appeared on the official chart. Maybe this year it will.

                                            1. Those album compilations are useless. It’s not like people are looking for them on Spotify or anywhere really ... The song’s success on Spotify is due to playlists (and the song gets playlisted because there’s plenty of demand for it).

                                            2. Britney is not a modern diva or an Ariana Grande peer. and her christmas song was released 20 years ago. nothing modern about it.

                                            3. About the UK .. wasn’t like a weird rule / metric preventing the song from charting in UK? Perhaps Instinct can clarify this info. The song will get certified Silver in UK this year tho

                                            • No, there has been no rule in the UK that would have prevented the song from charting as old xmas songs have been charting for years, if they are popular enough. I mean it would be on ACR which means that it's streams are halved for charting purposes but that doesn't stop it or any other Christmas song from charting, as indeed most of the top 40 will be comprised of Christmas songs for that period, with many more in the top 100.

That will be great to see it be certified silver, its cool how in the UK certifications are automatic and we see these 20 year old songs ( and older) getting updated all the time now. Much better system than the US.
