    • "Blackout" received 14.06 million streams in March, 9.05 million from "Gimme More" and 5.01 million from the other tracks and singles. Hopefully this month "Gimme More" can make 15 million and the album 20 million in total.

      • its nice that her streams r increasing but its all because of dumb tiktok challenges and that hulu documentary. the success isnt organic and therefore not worth celebrating anyone can go viral on tiktok and shes not the only artist benefiting from this trend.

        • I love it that Britney goes viral on TikTok, that is literally the youth and new generation platform. Basically the current platform for the young audience.

So yes! We celebrate Britney reaching newer generations, her music transcended and that TikTok is increasing her demand on streaming platforms for a 40 year old Popstar that debuted 23 years ago and that has not released an album since 2016.

Well she is not the only artist benefiting from Tik Tok indeed, but still not every artist has viral potential, at least not every artist from her generation

So the fact she is viral is actually worth celebrating

its how the new generation consumes music and the new generation is interested in listening Britney Spears

Uhm we are in 2021 and Tik Tok is one of the most important platforms nowadays. The biggest song of 2021 so far became a hit thanks to Tik Tok. It’s as organic as it gets especially considering that it went viral without any particular push

              • And I want to add that everything about this is ORGANIC ok? Neither Britney, her label or her team ever asked or were part of that documentary and certainly no one is pointing a gun against the TikTok users that want to use Britney’s music.

This all happened just because those people wanted to do that (using her music on social media or making documentaries about her), Britney wasn’t pushing for it. So yep, organic that people, media, and platforms have the free choice to use her music in 2021.

I don't think you realize the impact TikTok has on the music industry nowadays. Artists and songs are blowing up because of it, so there's nothing to be ashamed of. Maybe you need to get with the times? It's a good indicator of relevance within Gen-Z.

It actually is as organic as it can get IMO - or at least more so than playlist placement. Someone listens to a Britney song from 2007, then posts a video dancing to it, and thousands of people follow suit? That's definitely organic. 0 label push whatsoever.

Well, I mean its been known that some labels are paying people with big followings to start challenges to bring attention to songs. Not saying this is what is happening with Britney cos i have no idea, but it definitely happens.

Exactly. That other user has it totally backwards. Her tiktok success is the definition of organic success IMO because it's songs being chosen by the public with no outside influence. It's not a bunch of guys sitting around a boardroom decided how much money to spend on promo, or radio station execs decided what songs get heavy rotation, or even worse payola to radio stations to play songs (which is the definition of inorganic success). Basically, if labels spend money on success, it's not "organic". It's bought. This tiktok success is amazing because there's no effort or money being spent on it and it brings tons of money and free promo to the artist.

And as far as labels paying for tiktok success for Britney, it wouldn't be for 15 year old, already extremely successful songs. It would be for "Matches" or whatever new music she puts out. This year it was the documentary that got the ball rolling and hopefully keeps it rolling for a while.

Anyway I downloaded tiktok and I don't get the appeal. The whole app seems super unintuitive and the videos are so short and chaotic I barely get the point of them. I guess I'm just old af.
