      • Finally! A sequel that's better than the original.

Britney Spears' sophomore album, Oops!...I Did It Again, dropped 15 years ago, on May 16, 2000, forever changing the landscape not only of millennial pop, but of Spears' trajectory, marking her as Madonna's apparent Queen of Pop successor, as well as a larger-than-life superstar in her own right. The album set a record for the highest album sales in its debut week by any female artist, and subsequently sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

                  • "Britney" definitely sold more than 3 million copies outside of the US...
BOMT sold 12 million in the US alone.

                    This list is so inaccurate.
                    ? Girls' Generation ?
                    ? HyoYeon ? Britney Spears ?

Girls' Generation is the best-selling girl group of all time.

I think her numbers are pushing 80m.

In terms of the female artists in her generation, she's light years ahead of any them.

                            Your FF estimations seem wrong.

You're saying it sold 75K in Latin America, when the official number code in Brazil is 65K and was certified Gold in Mexico for 30K and Platinum in Argentina for 40K , thats basically 135K in just those 3 countries, it also performed good in other latin markets selling 2K - 5K amounts in each of them.

The album didn't sell 125K in Canada, it must he around 100K. In the USA is at 788K - 790K.

The album sold over 400K in Europe.

Once again, whats your issue with Latin America?

"Britney Jean" official number in Brazil is 37K, it was certified Gold in Mexico for 30K units and it was certified Gold in Venezuela for 5K units. Thats a total of (and official numbers) 72K units in just those 3 countries, Additionally I also estimate it sold around 5K in Colombia, around 10K - 12K in Argentina. Around 100K in the entire Latin America region.

britney has 62 million albums sold to her name. theres no way she sold more than that. stop inflating her sales or buying label reports. all the divas have inflated sales so shes not the only one!

                                  62 million is good.

                                  • For some reason, I thought Femme Fatale sold more worldwide, but Britney's overall numbers are great. I think she's the youngest act to have sold 80-100 million worldwide.

Happy Belated anniversary to Oops. It's incredible that her record still stands 15 years later.

                                    • "Femme Fatale" sold 1.9 million worldwide and shipped over 2.1 million so I guess that's not too bad given the circumstances. Though the album could've done better, it was still a successful era overall, selling over 15 million records.

                                            • Germany has been a very good market for her and we even got Britney Jean to #20 while it peaked at #22 in France and #34 in the UK. She just needs to promote!

                                              • Well, Germany used to be a huge market for Britney from 1999 to 2004. "Oops!... I Did It Again" was a monster record and managed to do even better than "Baby", selling around 1 million copies in the country. Her first 3 albums all peaked at #1 and while "In The Zone" missed the top spot, it still debuted at #2 and her Greatest Hits peaked at #4.

Apart from having two massive albums and two big ones, she also had 7 consecutive Top 5 singles from "Baby" to "Stronger". "Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know" ended her streak after it peaked at #12 but she recovered with three more Top 10 hits from her 3rd album ("I'm A Slave 4 U", "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman", and "I Love Rock N' Roll"). "Boys" also peaked inside the Top 20 (back then, even her flop singles reached the Top 15/20). She then had three consecutive Top 5 hits from her 4th album ("Me Against The Music", "Toxic", and "Everytime"). Her greatest hits managed to spawn a Top 3 hit ("My Prerogative" and another Top 20 ("Do Somethin") with no promo.

Her first 5 years were absolutely huge in every aspect. Unfortunately, her breakdown killed her career and got her a lot of bad press over there. While she got two Top 10 singles from "Blackout", the album peaked at #10 and failed to reach even Gold (although it's not too far away). "Circus" did well and actually managed to reach Gold. It also had two hit singles ("Womanizer" peaked at #4 and "Circus" peaked at #11). "3" debuted inside the Top 20 in late 2009 but she started struggling again at the beginning of the 2010s. "Femme Fatale" flopped and none of its singles made the Top 20. Could be a combination of 0 promo and lack of public interest.

In 2013 "Scream & Shout" spent 9 weeks at #1 and became the best selling song on iTunes but that was more of a fluke than anything. Surprisingly, "Britney Jean" didn't do that bad compared to other countries and "Work Bitch" had a better chart run than anything off "Femme Fatale". Overall, Germany is definitely one of her biggest markets and she's one of the biggest divas there. She must be among the Top 10 best selling international females with nearly 3 million albums and over 8 million records sold.

                                                • Germany was one of her biggest markets, but was a long time ago. The German press hates her, everything she does is bashed over there. The reason why S&S was a hit is because it served as the theme song for Germany's Next Topmodel (one, if not the, of the most popular TV shows in Germany), plus it was a generic piece of crap - which is what Germany lives for.
                                                  ? Girls' Generation ?
                                                  ? HyoYeon ? Britney Spears ?

Girls' Generation is the best-selling girl group of all time.

Sad but true. Didn't she get bad press when she went there last year and for basically no reason?
