There has to be a bug here , either the sources inflated boys or deflated the two others (both has over 200 millions from YouTube and Spotify combined)
I get what you're saying, but for all we know, a significant amount of its streams might come from the US. It's one of her most urban-leaning singles after all.

We should also never forget about Apple Music when discussing US numbers, as it's the most popular streaming service in the country. Surprisingly enough, Boys has better playlisting than a lot of her classics.

Currently on one of the biggest 2000s playlists:

And it was also on the biggest one (All Out 00's equivalent) in 2019:

I don't think sales are inflated as these numbers are straight from Nielsen/Luminate. But for sure there's something weird about Not a Girl's numbers decreasing.

    • Thanx for the info, it is nice and surprising seeing some popularity for boys in US I’ve never guessed that

To this day I'm not sure whether Overprotected includes the Darkchild remix or not, but I don't think it'd make a huge difference as it's not even on YouTube and Spotify streams are abysmal in comparison to the original.

Outrageous does have better digital sales after all. As of July 2021 it had sold 148K, while Overprotected was only at 60K. Breathe on Me had sold 66,134 as of February 2011.

The thing that throws me off is the fact I'm Not a Girl was at 129,001 in February 2011 as well. So maybe there's another version they're not counting or that number was not accurate to begin with, but Billboard reported it, so...

I think the thing with those two songs is that most of their streams come from Europe, Asia, Latin America and Australia where they were actual hits.
This is really shocking!. I can’t believe even “Boys” did better than “Overprotected” and “Not A Girl” in USA.

D*mm … The “Britney” era was truly in a whole new level of flopping with it’s singles in USA

Perks of being global is that Overprotected and Not a Girl still have over 100M views on YouTube and the former is nearing 70M on Spotify so it’s not all disastrous. A very, very small percentage must be coming from the US.

          • ChartData just posted some new figures! Still waiting for I Love Rock n Roll, Circus, BTMYH, etc. but I’ll gladly take any new info:

            If U Seek Amy — 2.3M
            Criminal — 1.4M

Yeah, the songs did decently on international markets. But funny how bad this album’s singles did in USA. With so little impact from the songs it’s still amazing to see how “Britney” was able to sell anything … let alone 5x Platinum eligible sales in USA.

Wow, “Criminal” increased a lot. That song is doing great. At this stage this is the biggest 4th single of her career (and by far) in USA.

Which makes think how weird that most of the time her 4th singles never did that well (only a few exceptions such as BTMYH in Europe which is her only 4th single that managed to properly SMASH somewhere). And “Criminal” these days which is pulling solid recurrent numbers. FTBOMBH did ok in USA due to physical sales.

It’s a shame radio pretty much blacklisted her during that era ;(.

I really hope that the rumors about "Pretty Girls" being on the "Barbie" soundtrack are true. Can y’all imagine the boost?

                        • I’m really curious what the totals are for Shattered Glass since it debuted in the Hot 100 in 2008 and had decent digital sales.

Even tho I don't like this song anymore, but it's probably a perfect song for a "Barbie" soundtrack It did fine in 2015 but it's almost forgotten now.

Despite the bug, at least Britney/her record label has the actual data regarding digital downloads and streams. So technically we shouldn't be worried if Billboard has glitches because, at the end of the day, her record label has official sales that are correct

This! Spend a few dollars and update her certifications. It would be great publicity for her, and can remind the world of her accomplishments.

Exactly if they certified her now or near her book release it would be up around 114,400,000 units (including ringtones + DVD formats). Which is a lot compared to her now 43,900,000 units

Weird, considering the original version has all those songs (even “The Singles Collection” has “Born To Make You Happy”).

Maybe they printed the USA version? That version didn’t have BTMYH and ILRNR because those songs were not singles over there.

Yep, I'm pretty sure they printed the US version for every country.

If GH:MP does replace TSC on the UK charts next week, that'd mean the latter would leave the chart for the first time in 6 months. But then again, GH:MP would probably return to the Top 40 or something as it'd benefit from vinyl sales + streaming for BOMT, Sometimes, Oops, Toxic, Everytime, etc.

But... Gimme More, Piece of Me, Womanizer, Circus, etc. would no longer count

                                                BUT

That means Glory will become the only album in her whole discography with not a single song above 200M. The best we can hope for is for SITS to hit 10 million. Glory will hold a record for the only album with most songs above at least 10M. Until next year when Blackout takes the crown.
