  • Decent debuts so far tbh.
And France has really become a good market for her. Or was it always? Anyway even more so since A Star is Born it seems.

And we’re still waiting for her to reschedule her Stade de France show…… every artist is announcing dates in Europe now, and almost all the week-ends for July are taken at Stade de France I don’t know what they’re waiting for. With her I’m seeing a cancellation as usual. She’s tiring.

              Great.

I expect a really big drop on BB200 on 2nd week, though, considering it’s basically pure sales only. Let’s see if it can stay on chart till the Thanksgiving concert special…

                            • Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s second collaborative album, Love for Sale, debuts at No. 8 on the Billboard 200. The pair’s first project, Cheek to Cheek, debuted at No. 1 in 2014.

Love for Sale is a covers collection of songs written by Cole Porter. Cheek to Cheek featured renditions of favorites from the American songbook by an assortment of songwriters. Love for Sale starts with 41,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, album sales comprise 38,000; SEA units comprise 3,000 (equaling 3.85 million on-demand streams of the set’s songs) and TEA units comprise a negligible number.

Love for Sale marks Bennett’s sixth top 10 album on the Billboard 200, and Lady Gaga’s 10th top 10.

Bennett achieved his first top 10 in 1962 with I Left My Heart in San Francisco. It climbed from No. 11 to No. 7 on the Monoaural LP’s chart dated Oct. 6, 1962. (At the time, there were two main album charts, a Monoaural LP’s chart, and a Stereo LP’s chart.) Gaga’s first top 10 came on the March 7, 2009-dated Billboard 200, when The Fame rose 26-10.

With Love for Sale’s top 10 arrival, Bennett has a 59-year span of top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 – the longest span of top 10s for a living artist.

Only Nat “King” Cole, who died in 1965, has a greater span of top 10s among all acts: a 63-year and eight-month span between his first top 10, Love Is the Thing, in April of 1957 and his most recent top 10, The Christmas Song, in January of 2021.

The 95-year-old Bennett made his Billboard 200 debut with the simply-titled Tony on Feb. 23, 1957 (when the chart was known as Best Selling Pop Albums).

I think this is a good outcome because obviously they had the QVC deal first time round but don’t know if they had a TV special or anything. Did they have a live show this time or a tv special?

Around 800k in US and 80k in UK.

It’s not only because of the QVC program… but many other aspects.
Back in 2014, opening with more than 100k pure sales was not a really huge figure. Pure sales are basically dead now except for a few exceptions.
According to Oldbloke’s US YTD thread, debuting with 38k this is already Top 50 on 2021 releases pure sales YTD…

C2C had lot of promo… they performed and had interviews on many US TV shows the 1st week… while this one has a 12 min segment on 60 minutes focused on Tony’s disease, not the album, and an online Gaga concert for Westfield… and that was it.
Of course, the hype for this 2nd album hasn’t been as big as the 1st time round…

As I posted days before the album was released, I had no clue about what the 1st week figures could be… My absolute best was 60k and a Top 3. So I’m a bit disappointed… But another #1 in the streaming era for a jazz album and above 100k was never going to happen (and even in that case they wouldn’t even had been #1 because of Taylor… lol)

Regarding your question, there will be a live special (from the 2 shows at Radio City Music Hall this summer) but it will be broadcasted on Thanksgiving weekend on CBS.

To make things complete, here's an overview about Lady Gaga's stats in Switzerland:

                                          #1 Chromatica (2020)
                                          #1 A Star Is Born (2018)
                                          #1 Born This Way (2011)
#1 The Fame / The Fame Monster (2008)
                                          #2 Love For Sale (2021)
                                          #2 Artpop (2013)
                                          #3 Joanne (2016)
                                          #7 Cheek To Cheek (2014)

Love For Sale is therefore her seventh chart entry and already sixth to make it all the way to the Top3.
