Adele :: The "30" Era

Yeesh, Adele really dropped the ball with this album... like it's still one of the top selling albums of the year, but this is ADELE we're talking about!

Adele said in her recent interview for Elle magazine that she stopped the promo because of the Vegas cancellations. She wanted to focus on getting that mess sorted out. But since they were rescheduled recently, I hope the promo resumes now. She did that Elle promo at least. The CEO of Sony Music, Rob Stringer, said earlier this year that they have 2 years of album campaign planned out but so far it's been more like 2 days, lol. It was nuts how she didn't do any late night shows in the US last year. Maybe they have planned it so that the initial push was meant to be smaller than in the 25 era but they will try to push more later. Let's see!

Maybe OMG was too generic pop from Adele for people's liking. They want deeper songs. If she wants to do more bops they should be like Rolling in the Deep instead. She's better at soul music than pop. I feel like Can I Get It would bomb also if released. Now I Drink Wine has that kinda classic sound that could be a hit for the ages if handled right. And it sounds more natural for Adele too.

Oh My God flopped because she never promoted it. Post-album singles need aggressive push, if she had performed it somewhere, it would’ve done more decently. Also, it was inside the iTunes top 100 since November until march. It never left the top 100, so people were buying the song, sadly radio dropped it really hard. A remix would have also done wonders for it.

She should DEFINITELY release Can I Get It, it’s the only song left with hit potential. The whistling part reminds me of I Ain’t Worried by One Republic which is smashing right now. Of course, I Drink Wine needs to also be released as a single since the video has already been filmed.

Maybe you are right! But CIGI should have been released this summer then. I guess next spring could do though. I think IDW has hit potential too, people just gotta hear it more. It needs a radio edit for streaming where they cut out the talking bit from the end.

The album is currently in Top 100 in 79 countries on Apple Music, most notably at #30 in the UK, so there seems to be a little autumn boost happening. Also the CD is at #19 on Amazon UK's cd/vinyl chart. This is the first time in a while that she's been selling more than Ed Sheeran's latest album there.

She's this close to leaving the UK charts, she should get the bump via Amazon.

Up 14 spots from last week! So the pure sales are still good.

So it seems like the momentum with the album could be changing for to better. Let's see. Now would be a good time to release I Drink Wine, certainly.
