                      What, how?

It's also still #1 in Flanders, that's crazy. She should tour all across Europe, what a wasted opportunity.

                                    • Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” descends 2-3 on the Hot 100, after eight weeks at No. 1, beginning upon its debut in January. It posts a 15th week atop Radio Songs (86.8 million in audience, down 3%).

Notably, “Flowers” ties for the third-longest reign since Radio Songs began in December 1990 – and passes Adele’s “Easy On Me” for the longest rule for a Columbia Records single.

Most Weeks at No. 1 on Radio Songs:

So the Billboard charts aren't only becoming more "static" because of streaming (it takes way longer for a huge hit to drop below a certain number of streams compared to how fast big hits dropped below 50-100k downloads 10-12 years ago, after selling 200-300k for a few weeks or months), but radios are also taking less risks and songs spend more weeks at the top. Right? :/
Because 3 of the 7 songs with more weeks on top of the Radio Songs chart have been released in the past 3 years. 4 of them in the past 5. And WBT was like THE radio hit that no song was gonna be able to best (it still broke and holds radio peaks and format records).

Said who exactly ? Of course other songs could beat it in the future, it is not like its total was anything exceptional and had been done before anyway.
Billie Eilish claims her second Number 1 single with What Was I Made For? , scoring a last-minute victory over Dua Lipa’s Dance The Night.

Said by fans in general. But it did exceptionally well on radio, even compared to other big hits, and had the highest peaks of all time (in audience), from what I recall. Nowadays radio hits seem to spend more weeks in the Top 10 and even at #1. But the overall audience is way lower. That's the biggest difference.

So, Billboard charts have hits that spend way over 40 weeks there, not only thanks to streaming, but also because of radio. That was my initial point. Not a critique, I just like this contrast compared to the short-lived big hits that spent 20-24 weeks on the Hot 100 just 10-15 years ago.
