  • Impossible Princess having consistent streams doesn't surprise me because it's a fan fave.
About Slow, maybe it has other versions also getting streams? I don't know. But it's an excellent song. I wish it was higher.

Poor playlisting, it seems. It's surprising to see The Locomotion being close to almost 50 million streams while the other big singles (I Should Be So Lucky, Especially For You, Better The Devil You Know) from the PWL era all have around 15 to 20 million streams each is surprising to me, since it's not necessarily much bigger a fan favourite or a GP favourite compared to the other songs. This makes me think that with enough playlisting the other songs could also surge in streams easily. Devil especially has a good shot at becoming huge considering it would slot into the dozens of Spotify Pride playlists easily.

            • Did It Again has more streams than any song from Let's Get To It and KM94 (yes, more than even Confide In Me) despite those albums featuring multiple UK top 5 hits between them compared to Did It Again's number 14 peak, and the fact that Kylie almost never acknowledges its existence.
            • Also surprising to me was the fact that despite being a fan favourite, Finer Feelings remains the least streamed of the Let's Get To It era singles.
            • The acoustic version of Put Yourself In My Place has almost as many streams as the original version.
            • Impossible Princess's album tracks have the best streams of any Kylie album tracks released pre-Light Years, despite it being her lowest seller back then.
            • Chocolate outstreams Slow on a daily basis despite the latter being performed by Kylie everywhere while the former hasn't been performed since in 2007, and the fact that the album version of Chocolate wasn't even featured on Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection.
            • Timebomb has more streams than every song on Kiss Me Once, despite not even being featured on an album till 2019.
            • Aphrodite (song) has more streams than Better Than Today despite not being a single. Same with Your Disco Needs You and Please Stay.
            • Tears On My Pillow is the second most streamed song on Enjoy Yourself, behind only Hand On Your Heart.
            • Both Wow and In My Arms outstream Slow on a daily basis, despite the former two never having been released in the US and having weaker chart peaks globally.
            • Kylie's most streamed non-single is Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, but discarding Christmas songs it's Miss a Thing. The top 3 non-singles from Disco are also her 3 most streamed non-singles overall too.
            • Kylie is one of the only two women in history (alongside Madonna) to have a song with over 30 million streams from each of the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s.
That’s a really interesting and well thought out post! The exact sort of post I come to this forum to read!
I’m totally amazed about Did it Again having more streams than anything on those 2 albums. Normally playlisting would be the answer but I never see it in any!

I do feel like undoubtedly Let’s Get To It was her most forgotten era (maybe until kiss me once) just purely because at least Deconstruction eras had more hype & acclaim. I always adored Give me just a little more time (which she posted about releasing 31 years ago today!). I guess all the singles from that album really underperformed!

The last estimate we have is from Buzzjack, which put it at 150,000 units in 2019. I see BPI articles stating it was at 325,000 units as of early 2014, but those seem to be incorrect since it's highly unlikely with its fairly modest chart run. I would therefore like to think it's at around 155,000 units.

                • It's surprising to see that Golden spent a lot more weeks (27) in the top 100 of the UK chart than Disco (17). I am assuming it's because Disco never got a tour while Golden did. Such a shame, I think between a lengthy tour and the reissue Disco could've outlasted Golden in the top 100 and would've probably gotten to over 200,000 in sales by now.

Don't know but Slow deserves better.

That or they're easy to slot into playlists. Slow has a very unique sound, so it's really hard to find good playlist placements. Its streams are weak for even Kylie's standards, but at least it's understandable.

Body Language in the UK with 404,000 units (Light Years: 507,000, Fever: 1,737,000, X: 477,000) while X is her lowest seller in Australia with ~95,000 units (Light Years: ~345,000, Fever: ~555,000, Body Language: ~140,000).

                            • Some interesting quirks I noted about when Can't Get You Out of My Head got to several significant milestones on Spotify.

                              100 million: 9 February 2019
                              200 million 17 March 2021 (767 days)
                              300 million: 13 August 2022 (514 days)
                              400 million: 30 November 2023 (474 days) (estimate)

The days between each 100 million milestone are decreasing, and even more impressively it's happening without Kylie having new music out that would give boosts to her old catalogue. If KM16 does as well as Disco, we might even start seeing CGYOOMH get 100 million streams every year. Excellent news!

                              • CGYOOMH is just that song and with the 90s and 00s being considered now "old" music, it has a strong classic status.

Im assuming her older fans are now much more active in streaming compare to 5 years ago because of the increasing number of streams of her first 2 albums. I can see The Locomotion overtake Spinning around as her 4th most actively streamed song on spotify in few months.

                                        Turn It Into Love

Im assuming her older fans are now much more active in streaming compare to 5 years ago because of the increasing number of streams of her first 2 albums. I can see The Locomotion overtake Spinning around as her 3rd most actively streamed song on spotify in few months.
Thanks for doing this. I'm really really glad In Your Eyes is getting the love it deserved back when it was released. Yes it did ok (and even well in some markets I guess), but it's one of her best songs. I hope Slow can receive some love in the future as well.

Oh and I really hope Things Can Only Get Better goes viral someday.

I have updated the statistic since I was able to get more data.
Some interesting notes about Kylie's streaming:
                                            - Her streaming is rather weak until 2018. It started to get better in 2019 but 2020 saw most of her songs get a huge boost in stream. Most probably because of the pandemic and the released of Disco.
                                            - Can't Get You Out of My Head is her only song that consistently has increasing number of stream every year. Last year it managed to get > 70 million stream
                                            - Higher being one her classic is indeed unexpected. Excluding holiday song, this is her 2nd most streaming song in number. But In Your Eyes has consistently surpass it's stream every year.
                                            - Spinning Around and The Locomotion have a huge boost since 2020. The locomotion even got ~16 million streams in 2020
                                            - Singles from Body Language didn't do as good as her other 00s album. Slow has the most streaming number out of the 3 but Chocolate has more stream in the past 2 years.
                                            - Into The Blue has been under performing for 2 years. It wasn't able to get more than 1 million stream/year. Interestingly I Was Gonna Cancel has the best performance every year from Kiss Me Once
                                            - Her 80s hits are getting more popular
                                            - Her 90s hits are out of place due to multiple main formats available. They have album mix and radio edit versions. The one with single format like Better The Devil You Know and Step Back In Time are doing much better

I'm not surprised Spinning Around and Locomotion have had a boost on streams. Locomotion is iconic, and Spinning Around was her comeback before CGYOOMH went #1 (almost) everywhere.
Tbh Kiss Me Once is such a... different era (even Kylie didn't like it, if I'm not wrong), but I ended up liking almost all of the song on the album (years later, though). Not the single. It's one of my least favourite singles, along with Say Something.
And in the 90s she had both hits and major flops, so I get why that decade isn't her most popular on streaming. I love the multiple versions of certain bops, even if that kinda hurts her total/weekly streams for those songs, I guess.
Can't wait until Slow goes viral on TikTok someday. Don't think it'll happen, but I want it to.

It's a bop, an underrated one. So it's cool to see it charted even if just for a week.
