Fingers crossed that I'll receive the end of week sales for next week's UK chart and I'll be able to provide an update on the UK sales of Light Years following the limited edition vinyl release today. Here's hoping...

There were reportedly 2500 copies of the Light Years vinyl pressed and they've all been sold. That figure should see it back inside the top thirty next week; it may even be low top ten in the first midweek update. It will probably sell more than Golden next week.

One of my friends was told they were getting more on Weds, so the entire amount may not have been shipped initially? If the store gets more Weds I'll report back! (Flying back to the UK today so will be able to ask myself Weds)...

surprising, considering the fact Light Years is not really one of her most successful albums there

It actually is. It's her 2nd best selling studio album from this millennium and her 4th best selling studio album overall.

Wow! an album that wasn't even multi platinum happens to be her forth best studio album? wow

I meant to say, overall the album wasn't that big there. Probably to her standards it seemed like it was (especially coming from the string of four previous flops, "Rhythm of love", "Let's get to it", "Kylie Minogue" and Impossible Princess)... it was barely platinum in 2000, wasn't it? not really big

The Spice Girls' "Forever" album was also platinum that very same year and it was considered a failure

So it would have sold 48 copies without the vinyl release... interesting to know these things.

Light Years was big at the time of release, following from her first number one single gawd since errmm 89/90? I recall that time, people were surprised but those hot pants were a big thing.

Those are very interest indeed. Wish we could know weekly sales, especially now with streaming being added to sales. E.g: How much Fever must sell weekly considering it has some of the most popular Kylie songs?!

Interestingly Florence and the Machine's Lungs at #31 has 2,547 units. Light Years therefore will have fallen short of the 2,500 copies that were reportedly initially pressed. Perhaps this supposed figure was slightly wrong, or not all of the copies sold out as was reported? :-?

It's quite safe to say all copies were shipped which in label terms means sold. It's quite possible that some copies haven't been actually sold - most probably brick and mortar stores that people have to walk in and ask and maybe some of those don't have online stores to check so those copies are slightly under radar. But they will be sold, no worries.
