In all fairness, I think the observation has not been so much that it is loosing popularity overall, or globally, but that it has underperformed in many national charts compared to previous years. The reasons for that may be unique to each market, and need not necessarily indicate an actually decline in popularity, much less a conspiracy. But the 18 to 5 #1's (so far) is notable.

Yep. There is a gob to celebrate this year. It's hard to be disappointed with 20 Top 5's and counting. My fav achievement for this year is the growth of C(BPCH).

The special helped A LOT.... Mariah's version of Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) gained MASSIVELY this year!!! it also surpassed Darlene Love's original for the first time on the Global Spotify Chart (by just a bit!)!

this year: Mariah 4,042,012 (#34) VS Darlene 3,998,281 (#36)
