With #1s now at 6 Platinum in the US, its worldwide total has to be above 16 million easily, right?

Maybe 16.5 or higher (or higher still when you consider that its totals in many countries haven't been updated since the 90s despite it selling very well for years... as stevyy points out).

It's underestimated sometimes when considering her big selling albums. Would easily be her third now... well, depends on where Merry Christmas lands after this year.

Searching the RIAA Database (for Digital certifications) gives Mariah over 20 and Whitney 11. This is inaccurate as not of all Mariah's 'Digital' Platinum singles achieved platinum certifications as digital singles. Vision of Love received Gold certification in the 90s, and was upgraded to Platinum in 2019, listed as a Digital certification.

Mariah Carey's Youtube channel crossed 7 BILLION views yesterday. She's got over a billion more streams on other artists' official channels (Whitney Houston, Busta Rhymes, Justin Bieber, Luther Vandross, etc.). For comparison, here's the cumulative official Youtube channel views for the other best selling female contemporaries (with their major collaborations on other official channels included):

Mariah: 7,001,221,568 (8.2 billion with official collaborations)
Whitney: 5,378,709,146 (5.6 billion with official collaborations)

Last week, Mariah charted on the Youtube USA artist chart for her 156th week, ranking at #47, with 9.75M streams. If the performance from the last six weeks of 2021 are repeated this year, she could add 82.4M more streams by the end of 2022 (just for the USA), more than enough for another RIAA gold single.

bm08 the Facebook views have added well over 100 million USA-based streams in total since they were uploaded mostly last year, increasing her video streams by +30% (Youtube USA streams during the same period was 365 million views). They count as ad-supported, on-demand streams for Billboard charts and, more importantly, will help her accelerate her RIAA tally every year since the Facebook uploads have not cannibalized the growth of her Youtube streams.
