Also, I don't think only fans know about the new album. People just don't care to listen to her anymore. To me, unfortunately, that's what these numbers show.
Can you blame them when she wouldn't perform alongside her interviews? She's only asking people to check it out, and people don't care enough to take the initiative for her.

The Eurovision performance was not only negative buzz, but all the buzz was on "Like a Prayer", nobody talked about "Future". If the performance people listen to over and over to mock her was a song from her new album, that's at least some exposure. But now it's LAP that's getting the exposure.

Ofc we can't blame GP for not liking or caring about her, only people here to blame are herself and her team (manager). She needs wake up call, and hopefully album droping out of top 100 will giver her that. Look at Mariah and how she cleaned her image, she was bigger target than Madonna just few years ago, and now is whole different story...

It's funny, most peoole here defended her by saying 'how many acts or peers her age are debuting that high', well how many of them are dropping out of top 100 in week 2? No one. Cher, Babra, Mariah, Shania all did better than her with their recent albums. This has to be one of the biggest declines ever for a major artists, if not the biggest one.

She entered Xtina, Nelly Furtado territory, only difference is bigger fanbase who bought the album in week 1.

          She did it folks!

"Madame X" now ties "Erotica" with three number 1s on the global charts and surpasses "Bedtime Stories" (one number 1) and debut album "Madonna" (0 number 1s).

Exposure doesn´t necessarily translate into bigger sales. Her Eurovision exposure is bigger then most artists would achieve for an entire era. Had that performance been good, or at least mediocre, it could have done wonders for the album. Maybe the reason why she doesn´t want to make more performances is because she´s afraid of bad publicity. Even if her new music isn´t atracting anyone, she still has the reputation of a legendary pop artist, and it would be wise not to mess that up with more embarrassing performances. That´s what legacy artists should do, instead of trying to become trendy. Look at Bruce Springsteen, 10 years older then her and doing so well. In his 2nd week he´s outselling her by more then 3 to 1 in UK, which used to be her territory. Without much controversy and attention seeking, just the music! Is it just because he happens to be male? I don´t think so. Suppose he started recording colaborations with random rappers and latin stars, tried to generate controversy with every move, and sung worse then karaoke singers in his live performances. I bet with that type of exposure he would get much lower sales.

I think she should've premiered her videos on TV with her interview. That way she doesn't need to perform, but the songs will also get some exposure.

But it's his job to manage her and her career, to present her to the public, and sell her work. He is the one to blame for everything, starting with her image, to her visibility on streaming services, you can't expect her to sit down the computer and start checking her youtube videos and what's uploaded and what's not.

Yes she is a bit of delusional when it comes to her image and she thinks ageism and sexism are the only problem, but that's because she's surrounded by yes men (like him)

I don't think that could be #1 in Brazil, since we don't have any physical copy of the album being sold. Maybe if the album gets a physical release... If it happens, you can count with 20k more copies sold, at least.

I'm not talking about one time exposure for quick boost (I am for this week in US, but that's another story), she needs years long career cleaning campaign like Janet, Mariah, Kylie had in recent years, from career achievement awards, to legacy performances on awards shows, GHs, performing at festivals like Glastonbury, reminding people who are they and how they became what they are, and here we have Madonna doing exactly the opposite thing, and how is it working for her? It's working against her. She's sinking lower and lower to the point of no return.

Even I, biggest pessimist here, am shocked by the results in week 2 in US and UK, it's not just tragic, it's embarrassing.

So we should add this to the list of terrible things and terrible management of this era... One country where she was supposed to do better thanks to Anitta exposure, they haven't even released the album...

                                          • I don't know why her team is being blamed, there wasn't any leaks (her music was protected until the very end), they got her two massive slots for TV performances (BBMAs and Eurovision) they got her enough budget for 5 music videos, 3 are already released and 2 more will get released in the future ("God Control" and "Batuka"), they arranged a successful ticket bundle for her that gave her a #1 album in the US, they got her a Pride Festival slot, they respected her vision with everything she wanted musically, aesthetically and touring wise, they have gotten her all of these shows and interviews (it's her own decission to not perform), they released promo tracks, her music videos are properly released on Youtube.

Honestly this is being way better handled than "Hard Candy", "MDNA" and "Rebel Heart" eras, I don't know what's to blame or hate about her team this time.

They can't put a gun on Madonna's head to make her perform everywhere she goes and they can't cross the line regarding stuff she doesn't want to do neither is her team's fault that she was off-key during the Eurovision performance, they have done everything they could.

No one is to blame actually, Madonna might be messy on social media and has been boycotting performing since Eurovision but she has also done plenty of work for her album while being 60 years old, I don't think anyone surrounded her or herself have had a bad attitude while promoting this.

As for the sales, there's not much they can do, if she was a veteran before that status increased like 10x times in the last 4 years (with all the public image damage she's faced) it's been told for days that the second week drops were going to be BRUTAL, this was expected! no one should be "surprised". I honestly think this album will be out of the charts very soon but hey at least she managed to secure 225K units worldwide (which we know like 95% were traditional sales) on first week alone.

And this without any promo. I guess Anitta even metioned the song on her social media. Also radios aren't playing. With proper promo this could be huge in Latin America (especially in South America), Portugal and Lusophone Africa (Moçambique, Guiné Bissau, Angola, Cabo Verde and São Tomé e Príncipe).

Batuka has a lot of comments from cape verdeans on YouTube due to Batukadeiras' feature. Sadly, they can't change the numbers from the album.

I totally agree with what you said her team have given alot more to this era apart from release dates I would say.... I m just disappointed at sales slump I love this album I fear for future releases now especially as she said she wasn't looking to record an album at all after Rebel Heart leaks & how she felt about it....

Can this be turned around at all I ask myself now?
