It's like that in Spain as well... And I think other countries have a similar rule too regarding catalog albums.

I agree to a certain extent, as UK albums chart, for example, has more catalog albums charting than new ones in their Top 100... which is boring and unfair for new releases.

But I only agree as long as there's a Catalog Albums chart available as well so those album sales are tracked and the albums can still chart... But neither France nor Spain have a Catalog chart so... Yep, a bit dumb.

As a French stan I can tell you that yes that rule is very dumb. And I’m actually sad because the movie will air very soon on TF1, France’s biggest tv channel and we won’t have the opportunity to track the boost on the official chart… we’ll only have iTunes and streaming platforms….

Well, blame those ABBA and Queen best ofs charting for ages and taking away space from other albums! I want as few chart restrictions as possible as well, but some were really messy to prevent the charts from becoming a major mess (e.g. preventing random album tracks from debuting in the top 10 and then dropping off in the next week)

Not milking that soundtrack was a huge mistake… nothing new with Gaga’s team. Only 1 single in the US….. a disaster.

Even in France, where we were lucky to have 3 singles, Is That Adele? should have been released after INLA.
