I don't think they were wrong, both Shallow and the soundtrack crossed 10M copies worldwide. Gaga always sold more outside the US than inside, ASIB is eligible for 3x P in the US so 10M worldwide isn't an illusion. ASIB was and still is huge across Europe, Oceania and America.

If ASIB isn't yet at 10M, it's certainly close to that. Either way, it will reach the threshold soon as the album receives over 5M streams every day only with Spotify and YouTube combined, it's inevitable.
