Damn, my estimation was so on point...

Don't forget that this data refers to only audio streaming, sales are not counted, and ASIB is stronger in physical/digital sales, in addition, TEA (10 tracks sales = 1 unit towards Album certification) is also not part of of this data, so I believe that the third platinum is already with us

      • The biggest selling album of the year is the A Star Is Born soundtrack with album sales of over 92,000 units.

Starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, A Star Is Born spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart, the longest running chart-topping soundtrack since Frozen spent seven weeks at No. 1 in 2014, A Star Is Born was the top selling album in Canada in 2018 with 92,000 units while the lead single, “Shallow,” spent 13 weeks at the top of the Billboard Digital Songs chart.

        So, 92,000 pure + 155,000 from Audio Consumption = 247,000 (3x Platinum elegible - 240,000)

        • It will not make sense that A Star Is Born Soundtrack to have "sold" 155,000 units (albums) based on the conversion of streams of audios into albums and in the total sum having only sold 92,000 units

@nympho What do you think about this?

          • In addition, Black Panther OST, that made 147,000 in audio consumption, made 159 million on-demand audio streams, so, A Star Is Born OST that made 155,000 in audio consumption, made around 168/170 million on-demand audio streams in less than 3 months in Canada

            • So, 92,000 pure + 155,000 from Audio Consumption = 247,000 (3x Platinum elegible - 240,000)
Isn't the 92k pure part of the 155k Audio Consumption units (another name they gave for SPS)?

I don't think so, because they made it clear that 155,000 units came only from audio streams, so physical and digital copies of the soundtrack were not counted in those 155,000. Not to mention the TEA: 10 tracks sales = 1 unit towards Album certification, which were also not added in this total of 155,000

                  ?
                  No.

What it means is that it sold 155k total units out of which 92,000 were pure sales.
(So 92k pure sales, 63k from SPS).

Maybe the way fyimusic rephrased it confused you, but I think it’s pretty clear. (They also made a mistake calling these Billboard year end charts when they’re the Soundscan year end charts published yesterday, up to 3 January, not the Billboard YEC which were already published and covered up to mid-November).

I think not. They wouldn't make such a big mistake by calling SPS by "Audio Consumption Albums". We're talking about Nielsen Soundscan and what fyimusic did was just going over what they reported, In addition they make it clear that the 155,000 does not include physical / digital / TEA sales in total that data

                      Really? Where?

You have on 1st page the weekly sales for Canada.
The weeks it has been #1 we got the real figures. The rest (with a *) are my estimations. Which, as I said, were accurate as they were only 1k higher in total than the now officially confirmed 155k figure.

                      Canada: 18,000 - 12,000 - 14,000 - 12,000 - 10,500 - 9,000* - 8,500* - 9,000* - 10,000* - 12,000* - 19,000* - 13,000* - 8,000 (155,000)

There’s literally no way it’s the way you’re saying. Unless you’re saying the weekly figures they report each week for the #1 are audio streaming figures only, without sales... which doesn’t make sense at all.

In the Nilsen SoundScan report it says The Greatest Showman has 140,000 “equivalent copies sold”, and that it’s #15 in the year end chart.
The #10 in that “Audio Comsumption Albums” in the fyimusic article is at 147,000.
It’s obvious it’s the same chart. The one covering sales + TEA/SEA.

I think you're right , sorry for this mess but I did not understand why they changed the terms, it all got messed up if you didn't get the weekly sales into the sum.

Taking into account that the song at #8 this week (Forgive me friend), was certified Platinum two weeks ago, on its 12th week on chart, peaking at #7, I guess Shallow with 7 weeks at #1 and 12 in top 3 must be like 3xPlatinum eligible there...

Same for the album. I guess it should be Platimum by now.

Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper’s Shallow, from A Star Is Born, was voted Best Original Song, and bounces 24-21 (14,487 sales) as a result, while the album climbs for the fourth week in a row, improving 4-3 (9,418 sales).

ASIB will hit 300k units aka Platinum next week in the UK

                                                      Great. Finally Platinum next Friday!

Shallow must be nearing 500k for the BPI (considering it was certified Gold for surpassing 400k a month ago and that BPI doesn’t use ACR).
I think it might reach Platimum by mid-February.

Following the second week of 2019, no debuts make the HITS Top 50 Chart, but the big story continues to surround Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born Soundtrack (Interscope), which spends its 14th week climbing back up towards the Top 5. On the heels of that Golden Globe win for Best Song (“Shallow”), the set hops #10-7, tacking on another 40k and bringing the total-activity number to 2.6m.

I was going to reply that is the addition of the album total units plus its songs total units... But then I realized that, only with the album (1.15M) + Shallow (above 1.2M) + ARUTW & INLA (above 1 million combined), it would be already more than 3 million... Plus all the other songs.
Then I thought maybe it was the album pure sales + the songs SPS. But that would put it at 3 million at least as well.

So I have no clue where those 2.6M come from or what they mean... :-?
