It will be tough... Considering that 'A Star Is Born', after 13 weeks at No. 1, still 'only' stands at platinum status, overall sales might be low. This, on the other hand, could indicate that there's just a little sales gap between that album and the albums at No. 2 and 3. Therefore, just a few more sales for Sheeran or 'Bohemian Rhapsody' could lead to them returning to the top, making it harder for 'Star' to break that record. Additionally, there's no new entry in the top 10 this week due to an empty release schedule. With overall sales being low in January, a new release could make it to No. 1 that would not be able to do so in other months.

I'm sure it's already at more than Plat but the label is a mess just like for Australia

Exactly. As were seeing with Australia, Germany, Switzerland and pretty much everywhere else with no automatic certs., its undercertified.
Should definitely be 2xPlat in NZ by now.

With the DVD release plus, hopefully, performances and some wins at the Grammys and Oscars, I can see it getting at least 3 weeks more at #1 there.

                • @nympho: With the upcoming promo, it might work indeed. Especially if the label wants to push another single in Oceania. I still believe that positions could easily shift in a relatively small market like NZ...

                  -------

My German estimations for the album:
                  5. 29k
                  5.18k
                  9. 16k
                  7. 14k
                  10. 15k
                  13. 18k
                  18. 13k
                  17. 13k
                  19. 10k
                  23. 12k
                  19. 18k
                  16. 24k
                  10. 12k
                  14. 12k (No. 5 seller!)
                  ? 11k

(total so far: ~ 235k) - eligible for platinum

Not really. The reason for the lack of new certificates is because the Gaga label did not request the new certificates. Basically, only the BPI (UK program) automatically releases new certificates, in most countries, the artist's label needs to contact the country chart for new certificates. In addition, ASIB spent the entire week on top of New Zealand's iTunes, Spotify and Apple Music, so, if the dispute were really competitive, as you postulated, there would be an oscillation in the reign of these platforms, which did not occur.

I'm still annoyed by that. I check the database daily to see if something is finally there. I'm sure the soundtrack is Platinum or even 2x Platinum, same for "Shallow". ARUTW should be Gold for sure as well.

But then, her whole catalogue needs an update over here.

I heard Interscope is one of the worst labels when it comes to certifications, is that true?

Yeah true. But sometimes it's weird because it depends of their artists as well
