OMG! How much did his debut sell in the US? The last mark I remember is below 500k in pure sales and maybe 1M total, so this looks impressive to me!

His debut was at 386k pure sales on 2017 YEC.
So I guess at 425k max by now.

It’s certified Platinum so above 1 million SPS for the RIAA.

Wtf that's huge. But it's even more surprising that he is so much bigger in the US than he is in the UK

He should easily out sell his debut album, probably end with around 2 million which is an amazing accomplishment

While being inflated by a tour bundle, those numbers are huge no matter how you look at it. Shania Twain, Celine Dion, Jonas Brothers, Dave Mathews Band, Pink and many others have had a bundle deal in their first week and Harry Style is set to surpass the first week numbers of all them all. He sure is doing something right (the promo, the music, the image...) as no one saw this coming !

Kylie Minogue, Harry and Taylor Swift are the living proof that a great promo schedule can make an album sell even these days.

If I have to read the sentence "PrOmO dOeSnT mAtTeR aNyMoRe ThEsE dAys" one more time Im gonna scream.

It matters. But promo used to allow artists to move way more albums. It's not nearly as profitable nowadays. Might as well spend more time touring, at least for those who can.
