    • The more I listen to this song the more I love it and discover new things. It’s Beach Boys tones who I also love, there’s a part that reminds me of God Only Knows mid through with a kind of key change .. it builds and builds and the ending is just fantastic .... . I hope it’s a grower it could be . It’s getting great comments

      • I have heard others describe it as Beach Boys-ish. Maybe. At first I thought it had s late 50s/early 60s feel to it. It sounds older than 1978. That in itself is not a criticism.

                  • Releasing Just A Notion has certainly done Voyage no harm . There are now two versions on the Top 5 and 3 in the top 20 on Amazon presales chart . The single is still No 1 there and no5 in iTunes . It will get loads of airplay next week on Radion 2 amongst others . Voyage is certain to be Radio2 album of the week on release week .

Not in Top 200 in UK or Germany

                      • Yes very poor streaming which I expected . It’s done really well in download and physical sales though which I think it the expected outcome. A lot of people didn’t want another release and are waiting for the album of which pre order sales have been boosted by this release which I suppose was the whole point. I m feeling a lot more confident that Voyage will be no 1 all be it for 1 week only . It’s looking more likely that Little things will be a Christmas single it may grab interest due to seasonal and nostalgic feeling .
Just A Notion will get airplay next week as record of the week on radio 2 so things might improve but I can’t see it getting in the top 40 . Abba are well outside their era it’s a bit like Ivor Novello writing new songs and arriving back in the 70s and having a huge album and too 10 hits .Remember what we are having now is never going to happen again . This is the last album . There is talk of a EP next year as the concerts kick in but I don’t know . I think this reunion has been a big and welcomed success and has done nothing to harm their reputation or standing in the pantheon of music in fact in some ways it’s strengthened it .

                          • I think Just a Notion will miss the Top 40 too. It would need sales of 10,000. Even getting into Top 75, sales of about 6,000 judging by last week's sales.

ABBA's worst single - up there, or should that be down there with Under Attack. Chartwise to miss the Top 50 - only So Long did that.

Better news, I am also increasingly confident Voyage will get to #1. I am assuming Ed Sheeran's album sales will halve in week 2 and ABBA's will be at least 200,000. Ed's last proper studio album sold 600k week one and last album - a collaboration sold 125k week one. I expect new one to be 200-300k week one. We will know on 5th Nov - when Voyage is released.

But that was like 40 years ago, really don't expect another hit song in these times. If many younger artists like Madonna, Celine, Mariah can't do it, why do you expect Abba to do it with the 3rd single.

Really do think you need to move into 2021.

                              • No. I am not expecting it to be a hit. I never said I was.

I do know how the charts run these days. You don't have to be patronising or put words into my mouth.

I was just pointing out Just a Notion will be a commercial flop.

As for its quality, it is poor.

I don’t think it’ll chart. It didn’t hit #1 on iTunes and I’m guessing has very little streaming power - it really has divided people, whereas DSMN was universally loved and still only just crept into the top 10.

I miss the bargain bins in Woolies. If I liked a song but not enough to pay 4 for it, I’d wait until it went to 1
