Yeah, Abba did things very similar to get that no1, just like so so many others do it these days.

Cant say its ok for 1 and not the other.

It looks like only one week for Voyage at #1 then. But when I first heard I thought it was up against Ed Sheeran's new album in its second week I was unsure it would get to #1.

Initially I thought Ed Sheeran at 300k first week and 150lk second week.

I thought ABBA would be 150k week one - so touch and go for a #1. I expected 30k for week 2.

Infact 204k week one and looks like 40k plus week 2.

      Overall, better than expected.

Yes, Taylor Swift had signed copies but ABBA had multiple vinyl editions - giving them 29k in vinyls on week 1.

VOYAGE by ABBA still has the highest weekly tally this year - indeed for four years. Not short of 250,000 in two weeks is pretty good!!

Oh, and Voyage is 2nd best seller of the year already. It *might* be top seller just on pure sales or physical sales.

Perspective and fairness for those disappointed with 1 week at #1.

      • I wanted ABBA to keep #1 but if the album gets to 250k in just 2 weeks we can be more than happy!! And I knew Tay (and I'm a swiftie) was going to fight hard for that #1.

                Very disappoiting sales from Japan

Wouldn’t be surprised if it were eligible for Gold or Platinum in Switzerland too.

It will be gold in France soon enough. If not this week, then next week.
We know it's already Platinum eligible in The Netherlands.
It's a 100% sure up for a certification in Sweden. I would be surprised if it at least didn't hit gold status in Denmark, Norway and Finland in it's first week.
It was already gold eligible in Belgium just from preorders for the first few days in september with 15k. It's definitly platinum after the first week.
It will quickly be up for Platinum in Austria.
And finaly it's definitely up for gold in Ireland too, if not already Platinum.

ABBA are also huge in Brazil, they just didn't get number 1 before because of the sudden death of a Brazilian singer. Do Brazil still have an official Albums charts?

This figure is vastly underestimated, around 100,000 units!
Even if I respect the work done by Mediatraffic, it is not too much to recall that their figures are only indicative.

Based on known figures, estimates made from pre-order figures, certifications and making much or less a pro rata according to the number of inhabitants between countries with a similar record market and a popularity of Abba almost similar too, I have come to the following. UK: 203.9k + Netherlands 65k (est.) + Germany 210k (est.) + France 38.5k + EU 82k + Canada 10k (est) + Belgium 25k (est) + Italy 4k (est) + Spain 5k (est.) + Japan 15.3K + Ireland 15k (est.) + Austria 15k (est.) + Sweden 45k (est.) + Denmark / Finland / Norway 40k (est.) + Switzerland 25k (est.), that brings us roughly to 800k. Two big markets are missing for the group, Australia and New Zealand, countries for which I did not dare to make a precise estimate because I am there in the unknown. Then we must add Latin America. While the numbers are certainly not huge there, 10k in total is a strong possibility with countries like Brazil, Mexico and Argentina in the lead. In South Africa the numbers must not be huge. Then remains all of Asia (excluding Japan), again with figures that should not be very huge, anf to finish Israel and all of Eastern Europe. In all, a figure of 850k seems realistic to me.
