  • Germany midweek update:

    Voyage 38 (29) 21

    Comment

    • So, with 1,800,000 sales for 2021 for Voyage the breakdown looks like

      500k Germany
      400k UK
      185k USA
      115k France

Half from just 2 countries and two thirds from just 4. In the past it would have required more countries to get to the 50% or 66% mark for studio albums.

1.8 million sales. I guess at least 1.5m in physical copies judging by sales stats we do have of some countries. 0.3m split between diwnloads and stream equivalent. And 250k in excess shipments for 2021.

Sales for 2022 are going to be low.In the UK just 28k in the first 3 months and outside the Top 100 now.

      • A new box set comes out the end of May. Basically The Albums repackaged.

        1. Voyage included
        2. Ring Ring and Waterloo are the Swedish editions with Swedish versions of title tracks as English versions of course
        3. Bonus CD has only 10 tracks.

Would this be counted as a "new" box set for chart/sales purposes....assuming it sells anything!

                      Voyage 8 (re-entry) 20

                      • That is a very odd result from Sweden.

Voyage dropped out the Top 60. It re-enters, perhaps not a surprise. But at #8?

Was there a TV special or something to explain this?

Edit: Mother's Day! It was Mother's Day on Sunday in Sweden too. Some countries have it in May.

                        • Looks like Gold may take a drop in chart position this week as the box set sells instead .

                          • Gold doesn't sell much now. Its "sales" are streaming based not actual sales (the opposite of Voyage)

Gold actually sells less than 1,000 copies/download a week now. Last year its Pure Sales 43k in the UK - with stream equivalent up to 178k.

As its sales are streaming based, the box set won't have much impact on Gold.

This could very well be at about 2 million chart sales in total.

                                        According to this link: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index...howtopic=97339

Dancing Queen did about 850,000 units in 1976-1977. Including the 1992 reissue, it did about 920,000 units before 1994 according to Alan Jones. So about 2.1M in total. Though I have also seen pre 94 estimates as high as 935/940K as well. Maybe 2.15M in total.
