According to Vidcapper, GOLD finishes 2022 with 199,000 sales and is the UK's 10th best seller of 2022. It is only the second time it has ended up in Year End Top 10.

I'd put ABBA' "sales" for 2022 in the UK at least at 300k. The lion's share of course for GOLD.

300k sales looks realistic. 200k Gold. 70k Voyage. 30k everything else


Voyage will probably make Physical Top 20 albums of the Year. Last Year's #20 sold 52k. If it does we will get CD/Vinyl breakdown. Assuming that Entertainment + Retail group do another report.

Gold sold 46k physical last year. It may make Top 20 Physical Chart too.

According to chartmaster.org ABBA have finished 2022 with very shy over 5,5 billion total streams on Spotify. In the alltime ranking they slipped down to 202. Other artists also add streams, of course and the updates for all the artists happen quite unregularely. Nevertheless ABBA have risen within the last year from somewhere in the 260ies up to the even mentioned position 202.

Looks like Voyage didn't make the Top 100 year end chart. The #100 sold 68,405, so Voyage finished 2022 with less.

GOLD is #10 with 198,918 sales (total 6,225,000).

That's a shame Voyage didn't make Year End Top 100. I was expecting Voyage to sell 65-70k (it still may be that lower end) but to scrape into Top 100.

I based my assumption about Year End position on fact last year's #100 sold about 68k and sales would be lower this year.

Sales may be lower overall but for Top 100 Yesr End albums pretty similar. At first glance #3 last year, Voyage sold 400k. This year's #3 sold 416k. Last year's #13, Gold sold 178k. This year's #13 sold 178k.


Good news for Gold though. Top 10 Year End placing - and this for only the second time.

The numbers are taken from Vidcapper's year end list. As they are not rounded, they seem to be accurate. It's a little bit disappointing in case for Voyage as it was placed, if not strictly constantly, but quite steady within the sales and physical charts. It proves again that these charts are quite meaningless.

Yes they are pretty meaningless. It looks like its only Top 20 of Sales/Physical charts that you will get sales of over or near 1,000 a week.

Voyage spent many weeks in the lower half where sales may be only 200 or 300 a week.

The only Voyage sales we know for sure are the first 3 weeks of the year. The first two still in Top 10 and third departed Top 10 of Main Chart. These totalled 14k. During 2022 it only spent 11 weeks in the Main Chart Top 100 where you's need sales of at least 1200 a week.

Concerning Voyage's UK sales for 2022:

In Vidcapper's YTD Top 40 the album last appeared on April 4th with by then estimated 31k. It has left the main album charts five weeks before and was #15 on the sales charts and #11 on the physical charts. Since then it did this in the sales charts:

15 - 14 - 41 - 19 - 32 - 23 - 18 (#109 main charts) - 11 (#53 main charts,1.9k) - 14 (#78 main charts, 1.5k) - 14 - 14 - 39 - 41 - 36 - 38 - 43 - 31 - 37 - 44 - 36 - 34 - 60 - 54 - 61 - 61 - 89 - 69 - 80 - 85 - off - 76 - 84 - 83 - 71 - 87 - 81 - 67 - 60 - 49 - 60.

It looks like, only Top 20 positions mean sales of more than 1k and there are only six Top 20-weeks for Voyage (beside the two weeks with relative certain sales figures, when Voyage hit the main charts again). Let's say these six weeks mean together sales of 9k. Plus the 3.4k of the two weeks from the main charts. Adding that to the 31k the result is 43.4k. There remain 30 weeks of several appearances in the sales charts with a span from #23 to #89. One week the album was off. To fill the gap to appear in the YEC Top 100 there a missing around 25k (as the #100 has sales of 68k plus). It is very unlikely that Voyage had average sales of around 800 a week (25k divided by 31).
