Is this for sales and streaming and if so what level? Or just for Streaming? (Sweden now has streaming only for tracks)

streaming is included in downloads now; the cert is for 90k

      • I am a bit confused. This suggests streaming only and individual streams.

        • it's an equivalent calculated on streaming + whatever downloads the track managed to obtain, the first Gold cert for Gimme Gimme was back in June 2020

Thanks. I notice Voulez Vous (album) got a gold disc last year. Wikipedia says 10k sales. Is that right? It seems very low.

              • The OCC produced two lists of Top 20 ABBA singles. The first in September revealed total sales ie including streaming

                https://web.archive.org/web/20210902...-songs__26113/

The second in November 2021 had just Pure Sales.

                https://www.officialcharts.com/chart...-songs__26113/

Dancing Queen - article 1 gives 1.65m CHART SALES ie Everything Physical, Download, Streaming. This is way too low.

                920k Physical Sales 1976-92
                1200k Download/Streaming sales

Actually awarded double platinum for Download/Streams in April 2022 - but Sep 2021 sales can't have been much lower.

Total UK Sales 2.1 million plus

                Article 2 says 1. 56m PURE SALES
If counting physical era then downloads would be over 650k. They didn't give CHART Sales

Note: Physical, Download and Streaming added together in All Time Charts but not Certifications.

                Certifications: either
                1. Physical Sales and/or
                2. Downloads and Streaming

To add even more confusion the OCC has in past compiled All Time Lists of PURE SALES ie Physical and Downloads

This is exatcly how I came up with my estimation.

                        • I remember at the time Soundscan were saying 3 million sales when the RIAA said 6 million.

Music Clubs were very big in the mid and early 90s. Soundscan didn't track those sales or other non-traditional sales.

The vast majority of the 3 million unscanned sales would be Music Clubs. Some would be perhaps from the Broadway Theatre that showed Mamma Mis! (It opened in September 2001). A bit of a myth that it was this that drove US sales. By late 2001 it was already heading towards 6 million.

Some sales of those RIAA would be also shipments in shops but not sold yet sold. But I doubt a very large stockpile.

Those Music Clubs clearly helped Gold in its early days.

                                      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                      Germany:

                                      GOLD 58 (44) 430

looks like, if Voulez-Vous is ABBA's current album.

                                      • It certainly does look like Voulez Vous is the current album. Streaming really helps that akbum.

Back in the day it sold less than Arrival, and Super Trouper, in Europe anyway, but being a mini Greatest Hits has given it a boost.
